Building Stronger School-Family Partnerships
Parents exposed to these strategies explore three key roles to play – to support, monitor, and advocate for their child’s education. They become better able to generate their own questions, improve those questions, and strategize on how to use them, as they examine ways to participate more effectively in decision making.
This two-part webinar series is designed for parents to learn how to use the Right Question School-Family Partnership Strategy to improve communication and engender stronger partnerships with educators.
Webinars will be from 4:00-5:00 PM.
Participants who complete each webinar with assignments can obtain 2.5 contact hours and a certificate for participation.
Webinar #1: Learning to Ask the Right Questions
Participants will:
Receive a brief introduction to the history and rationale of the Right Question School-Family Partnership Strategy;
Experience the QFT process, which builds parents’ skills for asking more and better questions;
Explore examples of implementation and acquire resources and materials; and
Strategize on how to use the QFT in experiences with their own children's educators.
Webinar #2: How to Support, Monitor & Advocate
Participants will:
Learn about three key roles parents can play in their child’s education: support their children’s education, monitor their progress and advocate on their behalf when necessary;
Experience the model through a hands-on activity; and
Strategize on how to use the Support, Monitor, and Advocate model to strengthen partnerships with educators for the benefit of their children.
