CANKTON ELEMENTARY
Ms. Mills’ class was the recipient of the Project Orange Thumb Grant from Fiskars for $500 along with various Fiskars Brand School supplies. They were able to purchase tablets for the class with the grant.
Mrs. Decuir's Pre-K students conducted an investigation of static electricity by rubbing balloons in their hair.
EAST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
East Elementary recognized students for demonstrating "Super Behavior" and being a "Super Student".
East elementary participated in Super Hero Day as part of Homecoming Week activities.
GLENDALE ELEMENTARY
Mrs. Laura Francois’ 4th-grade homeroom was awarded a Certificate of Participation for making 34 perfect A.R. scored for the week of August 27- 31, 2018. The class has so far read 260,136 words since the beginning of the 2018-19 school year! Congratulations!!

GRAND COTEAU ELEMENTARY
Mrs. Danielle Pontiff’s 2nd grade class at Grand Coteau Elementary are engaged in a Smarty Ants individualized ELA lesson with the assistance of newly provided chrome books.
HIGHLAND ELEMENTARY
Mrs. Amy Myers' kindergarten students at Highland Elementary witness the "Walking Water" experiment.
Detrell Thomas, Mr. N.A.U.W.- Eunice, is in Mrs. Monique Smith's Kindergarten class at Highland Elementary. He participated in Eunice High's Homecoming Parade on Thursday. We are very proud of you, Detrell!
LAWTELL ELEMENTARY
LEONVILLE ELEMENTARY
VFW in Leonville gathered school supplies and donated them to Leonville Elementary.
Leonville Elementary students participated in a little STEM exercise during enrichment today. The kids loved it. It got them working in groups using their Engineering Minds! It was fun for them.

Pre-K grandparents enjoyed a Grandparent’s Day breakfast!
“Bronco” the flying squirrel came to visit the students and staff of Palmetto Elementary!
Coach Guidry entertained the students with cup stacking while parents visited with teachers during open house.
Palmetto Elementary was awarded a $1600 Eat, Move, Grow campus beautification grant!

PLAISANCE ELEMENTARY
Mr. Donald Broussard and Mr. Keith Scott, Teachers at Plaisance Middle School Dr. Monica Fabre, are featured in The LAE Voice, Volume 15, No. 1 – August 2018. Mr. Broussard and Mr. Scott are facilitators with LAE’s Teaching and Learning Center. They were introduced to the Teaching and Learning Center by their Principal, Dr. Monica Fabre. Plaisance Middle School’s faculty, staff, and students give a Grand INDIAN SHOUT OUT to our Dynamic Teachers. They are St. Landry Proud!

First-grade students in Mrs. Armitage's science class learned about constellations and had a hands-on activity where they had to create their own constellations.

SUNSET MIDDLE SCHOOL
Lonnie R. is the Sunset Middle School Student of the Week for the week of September 14th. He is a sixth grader in Mrs. Thomas’ homeroom who earned 54 AR points. Congratulations Lonnie!
The Sunset Middle School PBIS team held a drawing for Free Dress Day. Students and teachers were able to dress out of uniform on September 5th.
Our students had the opportunity to incorporate the use of chrome books in our lesson today! Sunset Middle School 8th graders in Mrs. Kay’s class took learning up a notch by searching the web for a free online IQ test! Students were able to take an IQ test, learn what society and researchers state about their score and its meaning in regards to their personality and intelligence level, and then provided a personal elaboration on whether or not their score truly represents their ability to learn! Does Charlie’s mental challenges from the Unit Text “Flower’s for Algernon” determines if Charlie has the ability to be successful or does it hinder his motivation to learn? Students were able to get a firsthand experience in order to help produce a strong claim for their upcoming culminating writing task!
