We hope you had a wonderful spring break! It has been a great year so far, but the Nichols staff is always striving to improve to best meet the needs of our students. As part of our continuous improvement process we need some feedback from you. Below is a link to our 2014 – 2015 parent survey. We encourage you to click on the link and complete the survey. April 14th First Grade PTA Performance

We will be performing at the Healthapalooza PTA meeting on

Tuesday, April 14. Students need to arrive at 6:15 to line up in riser order. We will meet in the first grade pod. Students will need to wear work out clothes.

There is also a pdf with the lyrics if you would like to help your child practice.

Visitors on March 30th and 31st

On March 30th and March 31st the upper grades will be taking the STAAR test. On these days visitors are not allowed in the building. The office staff asks that on these days you try to send your child's lunch, jacket, etc with them in the morning.

Thank you for your support

Author, Janet Tashjian, is coming to Nichols Elementary!

She will be here Thursday morning, April 16th, to present a program to the students. You can pre-order an autographed copy of one of her 7 books. Flyers included in last week’s Thursday folder.

They are due by Tuesday, March 24th. If your child needs another copy, they may go by the Nichols library to pick one up.

Karate Belt Math

We have been working on using various strategies to solve addition and subtraction math facts. The red belt flash cards are addition and subtraction facts using numbers up to 18. Below you will find the Red Belt cards so you can practice at home.


I hope you enjoy helping your student prepare for this at home. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
