From the Principal...Steve Morrill
This week we have been celebrating student accomplishments and saying goodbyes. I would like to take a moment to thank all of the Thompson stakeholders for your flexibility, perseverance, and focus on learning during this year. Students should be proud of their accomplishments during this historic and challenging year! Fourth quarter grades are available in the Home Access Center.
I would like to take a moment to acknowledge a few significant Thompson Middle School student achievements. Please click here if you would like to view the 8th grade awards ceremony.
The American Legion award is based on courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship, and service. This is the highest honor awarded American Youth by The American Legion. This year’s Thompson Middle School award winners are Anna Gagne and Cullen Lynch. Congratulations!
The following 8th graders maintained straight A’s throughout their 3 years at the middle school. What a huge accomplishment! Congratulations to:
In the area of performing music, Amy Backer Memorial Music Scholarships were presented to band students Francesco Alongi and Ryan Katz. Congratulations!
The following students are the recipients of this year’s Permanent Collection Art Awards. These students consistently demonstrated exceptional work ethic, unique creative vision, and especially skillful use in the application of materials.
Looking ahead, school will start on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. Material Pick Up Days are planned for Tuesday, August 3rd and Wednesday, August 4th from 2:00 - 7:00 pm. Later this summer we will be sharing more information regarding the start of the 2021-2022 school year. Please call the main office if you have any questions over the summer at (331) 228-3100.
I wish each of you a safe and memorable summer season. I hope you are all able to capitalize on the “gift of additional time” that summer is able to provide many of us.

Online Registration for Next Year
Returning Student Registration for 2020-2021 is once again an online format. All acknowledgments and authorizations are contained in a single electronic, online registration form. Please complete this by June 1st!
The form will be located in the Parents/Community menu of the District website and on Thompson’s website under Parents/Registration Materials. Parents can sign into the Returning Student Online Registration form using their Home Access Center (HAC) credentials, select individual students, and complete their registration.
Registration fees for all students will not be billed in PushCoin until July 1, 2021. A 2021-2022 district fee waiver application will be available on the District 303 website in July, accessible from the Parent/Community menu, for families who may qualify for a fee waiver and are not directly certified by the state.
Please contact the main office if you have any questions at (331) 228-3100!
A reminder from the school nurse…
State legislation requires that all Illinois children in sixth grade will have a dental examination. A licensed dentist must perform the examination, and he or she shall sign the form. Dental offices should have the form available, but it is also available online at www.d303.org under Departments, then Health Services, then “Health Documents and Forms”. Each 6th grade student must present proof of a dental examination by a dentist prior to May 15, 2021. The exam must be dated within 18 months prior to May 15, 2021. If your child has had an exam already, you can ask your dentist to complete the form for the exam.
The Illinois Department of Public Health has established a waiver for children who show undue burden or lack of access to a dentist. Parents or legal guardians who object to the dental examinations on religious grounds shall present to the school a signed, detailed statement of the objection.
The deadline is quickly approaching! Please submit this if you have not already done so. If you have any questions, please contact the TMS nurses.
