Newsletter Week 10 Term 1

Meeanee School 6th April, 2022

MESSAGE FROM THE SWIVELLY CHAIR

What an amazing end to the week we had last week. Our Relay for Life day went really well with the support of our PTA. Thanks to Jess, Naomi, Sam and also Diana for pitching in to help out with the sausage sizzle and yummy ice creams. The students were fantastic throughout the day running, walking, and dancing for a great cause. The purple and white theme worked a treat as you can see in the photo's further on in this newsletter. It was great to see, at times, the whole school out there. We managed to raise around $1,100 for the Cancer Society.

Kelly McKay also had a starring role via Facebook live on the Cancer Society HB page! Thanks Kelly for organising the day. It took us three attempts but we finally got there. Students who were isolating at home also took part and sent through photo's of what they were up to in supporting the cause. It had a great feel to the day and the promise of more community events like this in the near future would be fantastic with a change of levels. Fingers crossed!

It's wonderful to catch up with our ex pupils from time to time and find out about their successes. Congratulations to Keira Hodgson and the Taradale High School junior girls Canoe Polo team that won gold at the National Secondary Schools Canoe Polo Championships. It is heartening that all of our Year 8 leavers from last year have popped in to say hello over the course of Term 1.

A reminder that the students last day for the term is next Wednesday the 13th of April. We have a teacher only day on Thursday 14th.
