New Associate Principal
It is with great excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as your new associate principal. I am very excited to continue my work at AI Root Middle School this year in this new role. I am committed to working in a partnership with Mr. Farson, the students, the parents, and the staff to nurture the academic, social and emotional development of each of our students.
I am thrilled and privileged to be a part of this wonderful community. I have sixteen years of educational experience spanning grades K-6, with a specific concentration in special education. My most recent educational experience was as an intervention specialist in 6th grade here at AI Root.
On a personal note, my husband and I are the proud parents of Trent, eleven, and Grace, who is eight. They keep us busy and always on our toes. My husband can be found on the sidelines at Medina High School athletics as one of the athletic trainers.
I am passionate, energetic, and love what I do! As we continue to encourage families to be partners in the educational process, my door will always be open. I look forward to meeting the wonderful students and families of AI Root Middle School as we start the school year.
Sincerely,
Terri Horton

We Need You!
Medina City Schools is looking for a few good employees. We have several jobs that are perfect for parents with school aged children. Our Cafeteria Servers and Cooks normally work between 2.5-5.0 hours a day and are generally done working by 1:30 p.m. We also need Support Paraprofessionals who act as lunchroom, recess or study hall monitors. These positions range from 2.25-4.5 hours a day with most being during midday hours.
If you are looking for full time work with a good benefits package, we are in need of Custodians and a Repairperson in the Maintenance department. Both of these jobs would likely be 2nd shift with a start time between 2:30-3:15 p.m.
An on-line application for these positions can be accessed at: www.medinaoh.org/job-opportunites or the Medina Civil Service office at 132 N Elmwood.
If you are looking for more flexibility in a work schedule, we are also in need of support staff substitutes and have just received approval for an increase in the substitute pay rates. For additional information about subbing, please contact Deb Nelsen at (330)636-3013.
School Based Health
The Akron Children's Hospital School-Based Health Center will continue to offer in-person well-child visits, including recommended immunizations through your school district. These appointments are offered monthly during normal school hours at your child's school.
Telehealth services are also available daily to students during school hours for minor medical illnesses that occur while the student is in school.
To schedule an appointment or to obtain additional information on these services please contact the Akron Children's Hospital School-Based Health Center at 330-543-7242.
Please see the attachment for the School-Based Health Center flyer for additional information as well as consent forms for visits.
