WARDOG ATHLETICS

Newsletter

From MPS director of athletics Chad Davis:

Good morning Wardogs! I hope everyone had a great weekend and are staying warm and dry on this wintry Monday....our cross country teams ended their season over the weekend, basketball season starts today for our 6th grade teams, and our football schedule has some changes to it for this week. Several Lady Wardog Softball players earned post-season honors, and the Wardog Football team is scheduled to play their last home game of the season this Friday. Another busy week for our kids!

COVID19 Event Update

Our county moved into Orange Level 2 for this week. A mask or face covering is mandatory for everyone in attendance at any Miami Athletics event upon entry, and when in the concession or restroom areas. Our seating capacities will be kept at a maximum of 50% at all home events scheduled for this week.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

The Wardogs were scheduled to play at Catoosa last Friday night, but that game was postponed due to COVID19 issues at Catoosa. This game will now be played on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Catoosa at 7:00pm. This game will be the season finale for the Wardogs.

This week, the Dogs will host Skiatook at 7:00pm at Red Robertson Field for their last home game of the season. We hope you can come out this Friday night to support them!

JUNIOR HIGH FOOTBALL

Unfortunately our 7th, 8th, and JV football games scheduled for tonight at home vs. Vinita have been cancelled (due to several factors) and will not be made up. Their seasons come to an end. The 7th grade team finishes with a 5-2 record and the 8th grade team finishes with a 6-1 record. Great job by both of these groups this year! They will check-in equipment tomorrow morning at 8:00am at the JH Football Fieldhouse.

CROSS COUNTRY

The cross country seasons came to an end over the weekend at the regional meet in Kiefer. Almost all of our competitors set personal record times and their overall team times were the best of the season. Both boys teams finished second overall in the conference, and each team had two medalists (Luke Hackett 7th-HS, Spencer Smith 10th-HS; Sutton Smith 2nd-JH, Axton Payton 6th-JH). Good job this season to all of our cross country teams!

JH BASKETBALL - 6th Grade

Our boys and girls' sixth grade basketball teams open their seasons up tonight at the Welch Tournament. The girls team will play at 4:00pm, and the boys will play at 5:00pm (both will play Bluejacket). They will both play again at Welch on Thursday, the girls at 6:00pm, and the boys at 7:00pm (both vs. Commerce). Good Luck this season to both teams!
