HSA Katy Wednesday Mail
January 20th, 2021
In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students, Harmony Public Schools will begin taking referrals for all interested students in grades K-12 for Gifted and Talented (G/T) screening.
Anyone interested in the educational welfare of these students may nominate them for assessment. Students in grades 2 & up who were tested in Fall 2020 are not eligible to test in Spring 2021. Referral forms are available at the front office and on the school’s website.
Referral Form (English): Parent GT Referral Form in English
Referral Form (Spanish): Parent GT Referral Form in Spanish
The referral forms must be filled out online or returned to the front office by Monday, February 8, 2021. The Spring GT testing window is set by the campus in February or March. Campuses may elect to use NWEA MAP scores as a prescreening criterion for GT Testing.
For more information about the screening and identification process, parents may contact the school’s GATE Coordinator, Mrs. Blackwell at email@example.com.
HPS offers free meals for all children ages 18 and under. Students under 21 who are currently enrolled in a school and are identified as mentally or physically disabled are also eligible. Free meals will be offered daily for onsite learners. Distance learners may pick up a meal box on Mondays (except Holidays) from 9 am – 10 am.
Upcoming meal distribution dates are:
- Monday January 25th
Please contact Mrs. Dikova, Child Nutrition Assistant, at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Winter MAP Testing Starts Today
Starting today Wednesday, January 20th, we will be starting our Winter MAP Assessment. Students in K-5 will be tested on Reading and Math. Students in K-2 will also check for their Reading Fluency and 4th and 5th graders will also test in Science. Classroom teachers will be reaching out to you with more information. Please ensure that your student(s) is on time and ready to test in their Zoom sessions.
As this assessment is not a grade, we politely ask that parents not assist their child during testing. This assessment gives the teacher vital information on how to help their students. They don't need to know what YOU know, they need to know what YOUR CHILD knows.
Thank you for all you do to make HSA Katy great!
Farewell Ms. Ahmad
Ms. Nadia Pacheco will be replacing her and she is looking forward to working with your students. Please be on the lookout for an introduction video from Ms. Pacheco soon.
