Girls Golf
The Girls Golf Team hosted a Central Lakes Conference Meet on Tuesday afternoon at The Alexandria Golf Club. Conditions were nice warming up, but the rain started soon after the players started their rounds. We had 2 bouts of very steady rain. One after about 4 holes of play and another after about 9 holes of play. Fortunately, the rain ended and the players were able to play the final 6 holes rain free. By that time, however, players were very wet and cold. All of the players were troopers and managed to complete all 18 holes..
Some of the scores were a little higher, in part due to the tough playing conditions. However, a number of players did have good performances. Brainerd took the team event on this day, and the host Cardinals had to settle for a 4th place finish.
Team Scores:
Brainerd 346
Sartell 357

The team will try to dry out and begin preparations for 2 more meets this week. They will travel to Sartell on Friday for another Central Lakes Conference meet. On Saturday they will host the Geneva invitational. Saturday's event is scheduled for a 9:30 am start at The Geneva Golf Club.
A special shout out to the staff and grounds crew at The Alexandria Golf Club. We appreciate all that they do to support our high school golf teams!

Jazz Band
On Wednesday, April 24th, the AAHS Jazz Ensemble traveled to Brainerd for the Section 8AA Solo and Ensemble Contest. The AAHS Jazz Ensemble earned a superior Rating with their performance of Nostalgia in Times Square by Charles Mingus, Manteca by Dizzy Gillespie, and Vehicle by the Ides of March. Our judge had many great comments about the ensemble's overall balance as well their attention to the stylistic elements of the program. He also gave us valuable feedback on how to bring our performance to the next level. Our 2023-2024 season included many great performance opportunities, including the North Dakota State University Jazz Festival in February and the Willmar High School Jazz Festival in March. Our region contest serves as the capstone of the 2023-2024 season and we couldn't be more proud of our performance last Wednesday.
In addition, a number of students competed as soloists or chamber ensembles. All Alexandria entries earned the top superior ratings.
Emma Krohnfeldt - flute solo
Victoria Stockford - flute solo
Eliza Bernards - marimba solo
Emma Krohnfeldt and Victoria Stockford - flute duet
Gavin Chelin, Markelle Burginger, Samara Groetsch, Hayden Underwood - clarinet quartet
