Pan Africanism Movement and Nationalism
It's the idea that people of Africa descent share a common history, culture, and experience, therefore they should work together throughout the world because of their common culture.
Around 200 years ago, during the 19th century, the Pan Africanism movement began with efforts to end slavery and the slave trade during the colonization of Africa. The result of this movement ended in the realization that it would benefit blacks to work together in an effort to end slavery, colonization, and racism and ideas to restore self-esteem, develop a continent-wide political identity, and encourage economic growth. The Pan Africanism movement led to independence because it led to the formation of the Organization of African Unity which helped solve problems such as conflict, colonialism, Apartheid, border disputes, and disagreements.
Nationalism is an intense pride of one's country. Nationalism led to independence in Kenya and Nigeria because they were controlled by the British. Kenya gained independence after thousands were killed by the fighting between the British and Mau Mau and in Nigeria the British spent more money in the south than the North causing an uproar. Nigerian student groups and politicians struggled non-violently with the British until independence was given in 1960.
