New GE Teacher in town!
Welcome to a new year of GE at your child's school! I have the privilege of serving both Weaver Lake and Oakview Elementary Schools, as the Gifted Elementary Specialist.
My Daily Schedule:
- Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: Weaver Lake Elementary School
- Thursday and Friday: Oakview Elementary School
My experience in education includes being a classroom teacher for 4th, 5th and 6th grades. Various roles outside the classroom make up much of my experience as well. A few of these include:
- Minnesota Department of Education Gifted and Talented Advisory Council Member, 2007-present
- district gifted education coordinator
- district data and assessment coordinator
- speaker, conference presenter, parent group facilitator
- GE educational programming and acceleration adviser.
Your children are my greatest concern and my job is to advocate for them. I will always be honest with you and tell you what I can and cannot do for your children. I will provide you with support, resources and options. Here's looking forward to a great partnership.

Would you like to meet and connect with other parents of gifted children?
- Do you want to learn more about what it means to be “gifted"?
- Seeking affirmation regarding what daily life and struggles can be like for other parents with gifted kids?
- Do other parents look at you in a puzzled manner when you explain things your child can do (reading at 3 years old etc.) or about issues you are having?
Our school district will now be offering sessions, once per month, starting in November, for learning about gifted children and strategies for 'GT' parenting. Please see dates and topics below. These sessions will be facilitated by several of our #279 Gifted Education Teachers. You will also have an opportunity for an update from district staff regarding anything that impacts gifted education. All meetings will be held at Oak View Elementary from 6:30-7:30 pm. Watch for more info to come!
