Nellie Bly
Journalist and Newspaper Writer
Journalist or an Investigater
I am looking for a job that allows me to present my work as a journalist and conduct interviews.
Personal Facts
I was born on May 5, 1864 in Cochran Mills, PA. I'm well known for my reportorial stunts and for my monumental feats of undercover reporting.
Fastest to Make a Trip Around the World
I provided the world with the fastest trip around the globe. I presented the world with a record-breaking time of 72 days, 6 hours, and 11 minutes.
Previous Jobs
I wrote for the Pittsburg Dispatch which was a newspaper company. I was employed from January 1885 until November 1885.
I also wrote for the New York World with Joseph Pulitzer.
Feats and Major Accomplishments
I have conducted interviews with the wives of former Presidents Ulysses S. Grant, James Garfield, James K. Polk, and Buffalo Bill himself. I exposed the terrible conditions of the Black Wald Insane Asylum.
Black Wald Insane Asylum
As I mentioned befor,e I exposed the terrible conditions of the asylum. I acted out as an insane person. The asylum had force-fed us rancid butter, the staff physically and mentally abused us, the asylum staff were feeding the inmates vermin-infested food.
Civil Involvements and Other Contributions
I contributed and associated myself as a social activist. I devoted my time to helping the poor, and organized homes for abandoned children to live in.
People of Interest
Many of my former bosses and people that I interviewed had evaluated my skills thoroughly. Both of my former bosses, Joseph Pulitzer and George Madden, had encouraged me to find better jobs. Buffalo Bill and the wife of Ulysses S. Grant benefitted first-hand from my interview skills.
