Let your learning flow in the Library
What an exciting year to be in the Library!!! Throughout the 2018-19 school year, students will complete STREAM Activities in the Library. This means that their research, projects, and lessons will not only strive to increase their love of reading, but will incorporate elements of Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math. The focus will be on encouraging all students to not just CONSUME information, but to also CREATE with it!!!

Meet your Librarian . . . Meagan Humphrey
Hello Berewick Elementary Readers! I am so excited to be starting my fifth year as a Bobcat! It is my goal to instill a love of reading, research, and technology to everyone who enters the Library. I am currently in my 13th year as a Media Coordinator having worked at both elementary and middle schools throughout CMS. I received my BS degree in Exercise Physiology from East Carolina University...GO PIRATES!!! And then subsequently went on for a MS in Clinical Exercise Physiology and a MC in Gerontology, both from UNC Charlotte. After working in their field for several months, I realized that my life was leaning in a much different direction and that I wanted to teach what I loved...BOOKS!!! So into the schools I went and back to earn my second MS degree, this time in Library and Information Studies from UNC Greensboro. Since then I have learned so much and continue to grow in my personal and professional life. I am married and live in a book-filled home that includes two wonderful, although slightly crazy dogs. When not at Berewick, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to church, doing yard work, watching movies, doing jigsaw puzzles, and of course...READING!!! I am greatly looking forward to another year with the students, staff, families, and surrounding community of Berewick Elementary!
Curriculum Connection
The beginning of the school year will find all students learning the rules and procedures of the Library. Everyone will learn about how to select the best Library books and will begin checking out on a weekly basis. All students will have a new picture taken for their Student ID, which is to remain at school and be worn at all times. In the upcoming weeks, each grade level will begin different lessons and units which include genres of books, digital citizenship, OneAccess, book basics, and so much more!
