APL Conference for Administrators
I am going to again try to include an APL strategy or tip in the Grant Gazette. This week's tip involves Wait Time.
Remember to say the student's name LAST when asking a question! Let EVERYONE think before calling on someone. The name comes last. If you start with, "Troy, tell me the main point of this paragraph' then Troy gets anxious and everyone else is relieved and feels like they're off the hook (and maybe that they don't have to listen to the question, since the teacher's already called on Troy!)
Copy Count Continues to Crash; Count the Cash! Puffy Principal Predicts Paper (Sur)Plus!
Thank you for continuing to monitor and adjust your printing and copying! We are seeing significant savings this year!
For example, in August and September of 2015, we spent $1,274.39 on printing. In 2016, we spent $1,499.73 during those two months. This year, in August and September, we spent $992.33!
Thanks again and keep up the great work! We spent $571.72 in October last year and I hope to be well under that this month!
Paras will help after school next week
Thanks to the paras for being flexible with their time and giving that gift of time to the teachers!
Life Cycle!
"I grew my own pumpkins at my Grandpa's place this year, Mr Berryman," Keith told me proudly. "We got some small white ones with orange stripes and one big orange one."
"That's awesome, Keith," I said. "Will you carve the big orange one up for Halloween?"
He said, "I don't think so, Mr. Berryman. I want to let it rot and then get the seeds out and save them for next year. That's kinda like the life cycle, huh?"
I love having these conversations with students!
Thanks for running a great PLC, Karolee & Lori
We will continue to provide time to explore and learn more ways to utilize technology to communicate with parents and have our students be problem solvers and creative thinkers. We will build in some more "Tech Time" during next Wednesday's PLC that Michelle and Dani will plan and execute!
Tweet of the Week
The corded phone makes this pic feel like the 1980s, but the iPad brings it back to the present day!
