The Government's strong recommendation for students to wear masks for the first four weeks of Term 3.

For Term 3 2022

  • The Ministries of Education and Health strongly recommend that all schools and kura to require mask wearing in all indoor settings for the first four weeks of Term 3 (where it will not have a significant impact on teaching and learning – see below) for students in Years 4 and above.
    • This recommendation does not include any situation where mask wearing might not be practicable, such as while eating and drinking, playing certain musical instruments, indoor sport, where it will have a significant impact on teaching and learning (for example, students with particular learning needs), certain activities such as singing or drama performance on stage, and PE. In these situations, particular attention should be paid to ensuring there is good ventilation during the activity, and physical distancing where practicable.

We understand that many students find masks uncomfortable and that many families have strong views around mask wearing. If your child is happy to wear a mask at school we would greatly appreciate it! Please let the teacher know if your child needs a child sized mask and one will be provided.

Secondly, with the amount of winter illnesses around, plus Covid, we would appreciate you not sending your child/ren to school if they are unwell.
