Message from Dr. Magers

Happy November!

It was great to see so many Sherwood families at our 2nd annual fall trunk or treat "walk through"! We hope you enjoyed the time with family and also enjoyed an extra long weekend to spend quality time with family and friends. It was so great to see parents in the building for Parent Teacher Conferences! As you know, you can reach out to your child's teacher anytime during 2nd quarter if you have questions or concerns. A New Face in the Office:

Lisa Wortley has joined the Sherwood Team for the 2021-22 school year! Lisa will be assisting Bri in the office for 4 hours each day. You can read a little about Lisa here:

My name is Lisa Wortley, and Bri is teaching me the tricks of the secretary trade in the office. I am originally from Wisconsin (Go Packers!), but I have lived in the area for many years. My husband, daughter, dog and I live in Nixa. I love being in the water during the summer and in the snow in the winter. After last year, I retired from teaching at Cherokee, but it seems that I just can't get enough of school. 😉 Everyone has been nice and welcoming here at Sherwood, and if we haven't met yet, please come and introduce yourself. 🙂

Transitional Transfers

Fifth-graders may apply for transitional transfer for the 2022-2023 school year beginning Nov. 3

SPS fifth-graders have the opportunity to request a transitional transfer for the 2022-2023 school year to a middle school of their choice that is open to transfers. Students interested in this option may submit requests between 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, and 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10.

This type of transfer is offered as part of Springfield Public Schools’ open enrollment option. If your child plans to attend the middle school assigned to them based on the student’s home address, no action is needed.

The transitional transfer request form for the 2022-2023 school year must be completed electronically. Requests are granted on a first come, first served basis determined by an electronic time/date stamp.

If your student is interested, visit to learn more.
