Difference Maker Award for Our Staff

This is just a small way that we can show appreciation to the staff for all that they do! Click on the button above to nominate a staff member. The McBrayer Admin Team will print a certificate for the person who you choose to nominate.

Attendance

It is important that your child is at school. We miss them when they are gone! McBrayer's monthly goal for attendance is 95%. If your child is not sick, please do everything possible to get them here daily. We have a lot of learning to do :)

Related Arts News

Look what our students are learning in Related Arts!

Computer- Students are learning internet safety with a game called InterLand. And we're starting on coding next week with Kodable and code.org!

Music-In music, we will be learning new sounds using Halloween songs and learning new instruments.

Art-All grade levels are doing some sort of fall painting:

Kindergarten and First Grade: Splat the Cat Pumpkin Patch

Second and Third: Fall collage with painted papers

Fourth and Fifth: Speckled Hens

Library- Students in library classes will work in Makerspaces to explore, curate, collaborate, include, inquire and engage in learning activities connected to the content areas as well as STEM activities

PE-All Grades K-5 will be working on tossing, throwing underhand/overhand, and catching skills.

Counselor Corner

This month our character trait is Responsibility. We will be focusing on this school-wide and during guidance lessons. October is also National Bullying Prevention Month so we will have some activities and initiatives tailored toward that as well. The first two months of school have been so busy, but I've enjoyed working with your students and getting to know them. We will have parent-teacher conferences later this month; if you need to meet with me, please let me know! Family Resource Center

The goal of the Family Resource Center is to enhance students’ abilities to succeed in school by assisting children and families in meeting some of their basic needs. Some of the services that we offer are:

On-site clothing closet for emergencies/accidents

School supplies and academic support

Holiday assistance

Scholarships to camps, sports programs

Referrals to local agencies for medical, dental, vision, and special health care needs, housing , daycare, and emergency utility assistance

Hygiene supplies

Household supplies

Food assistance

Breakfast and Lunch Menus

Breakfast and lunch are free for all students! A paper menu will be sent home each month. You may also view the breakfast and lunch menus on Meal Viewer.

Want to Volunteer?

We are always looking for volunteers to help out in our classrooms! If you would like to volunteer in our classrooms, attend parties, etc. Please take the following steps.

1. Contact Central Office (606-784-8929) to fill out the proper paperwork.

2. Once you have completed your background check and it clears, contact McBrayer to set up a time to volunteer!

Committee Meetings

We would love for you to be a part of our committee meetings! MES committee meetings meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 3:40-4:40. If you would like to be on a committee, please fill out the Committee Sign Up Form.
