Reflection Corner: The Gift of Mary as a Disciple
Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." Mary's profound prayer, her "Fiat" (Let it be done) in response to the visitation from the messenger of heaven, the angel, gives a pattern of prayer and a way to live for every Christian. However, the "Fiat" is more than a prayer. It reveals the way of the first disciple, Mary, and it shows a lesson book, a guide, for this journey called life.
Reflection: Our life is always filled with meaning, purpose and destiny. Do we have eyes of faith to see and respond with the kind of trusting surrender that was also expressed by Mary in her continuing surrender to God's invitation?

Halloween Festivities Just Around the Corner
Booo! It's Halloween! That's right! The spirit is slowly invading us. People have been asking about the upcoming Halloween events. Here you go . . . . . .
We are going to have our annual Halloween festivities on Friday, October 30th. Here is some information to take note of:
K - 6 students may come in Halloween costumes in the morning. Kindergarten teachers will be providing specific instructions for the little ones. Please note that the following are not allowed:
Face Masks
Anything that suggests violence including bloody costumes
Make-up
Toy weapons of any kind
Any handheld props that may be a safety hazard
Open shoes, slippers, flip-flops
Inappropriate attire (short shorts, short dresses, tank tops, etc.)
Students not wanting to be in costumes must be in their school uniforms. It is not a Free Dress Day.
We will still have our regular lunch periods for K – 6th. Hot lunches will still be available on that day.
The Halloween parade for PreK – 6 starts at 1:30 p.m. Immediately after the parade, classes will return to their classrooms for their respective Halloween celebrations. Parents are reminded to keep the treats as healthy as possible. Halloween treats may not be distributed until the designated Halloween celebration time.
The Halloween Social for 7th and 8th graders begins at 12:30 p.m. at the Church Hall. Special Dress Guidelines will be provided to students. Junior High students are expected to remain in the hall for the entire Halloween Social event.
It should be on fun Halloween celebration at OLM. Boooooooooo!

Reading Is So Much Fun You’ll Get Goosebumps!
Our 2015 Scholastic Book Fair is almost here. Our opening day will be on Tuesday, November 3rd in the Church Hall. The fair will continue through Sunday, November 8th (excluding Saturday).
We hope that you’ll come and join in the fun and that you’ll support our Classroom Wish List opportunity. This is a great way to help teachers build their classroom libraries.. Just purchase a book from the teacher’s “wish” basket, sign your name on the presentation label (at the cashier’s table), and you’ve made a meaningful contribution to your child’s classroom. You may deliver the book in person, or we’ll be happy to deliver it for you. What a joy it is to give the gift of reading!
Watch for the Book Fair flyer! It has dates, times, and offers you an opportunity to volunteer at this joyful event.
See you at the MONSTER BOOK FAIR!
