Lowell 5k Fun Run....Dash For Dr. Murphy

Registration forms have been sent home for the 17th Annual Lowell 5k!

We hope you can all join us on Saturday May 3rd for this fun family event!

It is a special morning, where we come together to honor a former Lowell Principal, Dr. Rosemary Murphy who passed away from cancer. It is also a time for us to remember the loved ones in our lives who are survivors or who have lost their battle. Public is invited, so feel free to invite extended family and friends! 100% of the proceeds are donated to The American Cancer Society.

*Back by popular demand: Add a loved one's name to our race shirts! For only $50, honor or remember your loved one who had/has cancer. Space is limited, so submit the names early. See registration form for details. Registration for the 5k is only $8 a person through April 17th. This includes a shirt, goody bag, medals for students and post run treats. The only way to guarantee yourself a race shirt is to get forms in by Thursday April 17th. After this date the cost goes up and shirts will go quickly; we sell out every year!

If you would like to volunteer for the Lowell 5k, there are plenty of positions available! From cheering for runners on the race course, to early morning set up or stuffing goody bags, there is sure to be something for you to do!

Extra forms can be found in the school office. If you have any registration questions please contact Kelly Nielsen at kdnoe2002@yahoo.com or (630)728-4928. If you have any volunteer questions please contact Courtney Henderson at mchenderson0618@comcast.netor (773)304-8875

Cultural Dishes Needed

We are looking for donations for the International Food Table at Culture Fest on Friday, April 25th. An entrée, side dish, dessert...or even a plate of cookies/candies that are representative of a specific culture would be greatly appreciated.

If you can donate a dish or have any questions, please contact Andrea Koziarz at 630.653.4063 or andrea@koziarz.com.

Do you wish you ordered a holiday program DVD?? You still can!

Art to Remember Update

Each student should receive a personalized brochure from “Art to Remember”, showing an image of their own artwork on sample products. You have an opportunity to order a variety of keepsakes with the artwork on it. While the brochure does not show all the products, you may view all options on the following website.

http://arttoremember.com/fundraising-programs/keepsake-programs/products/

If you choose to place an order, they are due back to Mrs. Roche by Monday, April 14th. If you cannot or do not make an order, they do not have to return the brochure. All student artwork will be returned to the school after the orders are delivered.

This is a great way to support our Art Curriculum. Thank you for your support!

Discovery Day is coming!

Discovery Day plans are underway! Thanks to all of you who have returned your forms and your willingness to help! We really appreciate it! Discovery Day will be on Monday, June 9th this year and we are working on the list of activities! Discovery Day is held during the last week of school and it is an opportunity for our students to grow, stretch, learn, discover, and try activities by introducing them to new and unique learning opportunities.

During the morning of Discovery Day, students will participate in three activities. Discovery Day is a collaborative effort made up of parent/family volunteers, teachers, staff, and some outside vendors.

Leaders, co-leaders, assistants, helpers are all welcome and all are appreciated! Have a passion for something, a talent or hobby.......come and share it with our Lowell Students. We hope you will consider joining us and being part of the fun! Volunteer sign up sheets have been sent home. The list of potential activities is linked below for your review. Please return them to the office as soon as possible.

Also, the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon will take place immediately after Discovery Day again this year. Please join us as we honor all of the volunteers that have worked so hard to make it another great year at Lowell. If you are interested in helping with this special luncheon, please check the box on your Discovery Day form and you will be contacted.

We are also looking for Field Day volunteers. Field Day occurs in the afternoon on June 9th and we need volunteers to assist the PE teachers. It is an afternoon full of action and fun!
