Florida State Geologist visits Glenridge
Florida State Geologist Dr. Jonathan Arthur visited Ms. Adam's 8th Grade science class. He taught kids about Karst Topography, which is the study of caves, sinkholes, fissures and underground streams. "GMS students enjoyed learning about everything from the sinkhole lake at the park where they play football to fossilized shark poop!" said Ms. Adams, teacher of the class. Overall GMS students thought it was a great experience to hear from an expert on a subject they were studying and they want to thank Dr. Arthur for coming to our school.
Cullen H.
"I learned that sinkholes are made when the ground collapses into underground caves."
Nathan C.
"I learned that limestone can hold water and decays to create sinkholes."
Stewart J.
"I learned Florida has one of the most amounts of sinkholes and Florida was originally completely underwater."
Glenridge Gives: Canned Food & Clothing Drive
GMS students interveiwed Ms.Talbot-Williams and asked her a few questions about how she felt about the canned food drive and what it takes to organize an event like this. "This year we collected 1,700 cans for the canned food drive. The cans will be sent to all of the homeless families". We have about 65-70 homeless students, but we may have more that we have not identified. We have many families living in motels or having a need or emergency. It gives me joy to be able to help these students, because I have a personal connection."
Glenridge also came together to collect clothes and toys to make everyone's holiday a little bit better. The clothes are stored in what is called "The Closet of Care." Students and parents organize the donations and keep it stocked with basic needs for students. When someone needs a winter coat or a new pair of shoes, they can pick something from this Closet of Care. Glenridge students and families are helping those in need and it feels great!

Mr. Dutton has left the building
As most of us know Mr. Dutton, the language arts teacher has moved to Massachusetts to teach a high school drama class. His students were sad to see him go, and were dreading the day he left. According to Mr. Dutton, "LIFE is a blank canvas, and you need to throw all the paint on it that you can" - quote by Danny Kaye, actor

Another Goodbye
Miss Bleu
Miss Bleu was a 7th grade teacher, and may we say one of the best. Her last day was December 6th. Her teaching skills were phenomenal, and her students will never forget her humor. (In this pic, she's doing the "BE FIERCE" sign)
A Surprise
Miss Bleu was a temporary teacher for Miss Miller, who is returning to GMS from Maternity Break. Both teachers are great and since Mrs. Miller is returning early, it's our time to say Goodbye to Miss Bleu.
Bye Miss Bleu!
All of Miss Bleu's students will definitely miss her and wish her the best. It is going to be a big change to have a new teacher, but we will always remember Miss Bleu.
