Our Path Note Topic
We know well that academics and career goals are difficult to attain if our learners do not have a strong whole child foundation. The Whole Child Pillar has been working with the Lincoln Intermediate Unit and creating school level action plans based on the climate survey data issued this year. The data is helping to drive the plans for addressing the areas of need. In addition, WASD will be focusing on its MTSS Framework aligned to whole child dispositions and habits of success. The MTSS Framework is also used to address academic needs as well.
Over the next weeks, we will look at what is happening and where things are going with the Family and Learner Success Team, Innovative Learning Team and FC VIP>

Piece of the Puzzle
This Week's Piece of the Puzzle is Andrew Vensel. WASHS music teacher, has a special gift and love for working with all students but especially with special education students. One of the reasons he wanted to work at WASD was the opportunity to work with special education students at WASHS. Andrew adapts lessons, uses picture schedules and makes many other accomodations to his lessons for our special education students, on his own. By doing this he brings out the best in our students. For example, he has instilled a love of music for Mrs. Richardson's class. The learners are able to express their feelings and emotions using music with his guidance. Andrew attended the PMEA Conference and presented his work with students with disabilities. His session was extremely well attended and also well received. His work at WASD will now inspire many other music professionals to seek out the best in their special education students. Thank you, Andrew, for going above and beyond! #BORO PRIDE!
