Reading

Leveled readers are continuing to go home in blue folders. Please listen to your son or daughter read at home to help them become more confident readers!

WORMS-This week we READ and WROTE all about worms. We have access to books written on the same topic but at different levels, so each student was able to read about worms at their own level. You can quiz your first grader at home about what they learned, here are some guiding questions:

How many hearts does an earthworm have?
Can earthworms see? Hear?
What do earthworms do to our soil? Why are they so important?
What is another name for earthworm slime?
How does an earthworm's rings help them move?

STONE SOUP-We also attended the play "Stone Soup" in our school gym, brought to us by Great Plains Theater. The first graders loved this! Check out the pictures on Lincoln's FB page!

Math

Adding two digit numbers has been the focus this week. Your first grader should be able to add these numbers below with ease. If not, it would be a great skill to practice!

8th grader Jillian Dreher visited our classroom to teach us about chromatography, students were enthusiastic about this science! Special treat for me to have my former student teach my current students.
