A Message from Principal Hale
November 5, 2021
I started the year telling our students, staff, and community that we had three main goals. Our goals were to maintain health and safety, address the social and emotional needs of our students, and to have a clear focus on academic needs. It is an every day juggle that we do to manage it all. This week was a great example of the amazing work our staff does in all three of these goals.
The writing focus of our entire school is evident in every classroom. Students are writing daily and teachers are fine tuning their instructional practices in this area. Next week students are writing letters to Veterans, some students are writing about our ISS contact, and every classroom is engaged in meaningful writing exercises daily.
Our Student Services/Counseling department planned a fantastic Hope Week for our students. We know that when students are struggling socially or academically they feel a lack of hope. By focusing in on the positive things in our future, and how to cope with our emotions, students felt the love! Every student on our campus should be able to name five trusted adults on our campus.
Finally, we continue to enforce our mitigation strategies and do more to maintain all around safety each day. Our safety patrol, duty aides, and entire staff know that the safety and well-being of our students is paramount.
Writing Goals Continue Each Week
Checking Writing for Correct Grammar
Next week we will focus on correct grammar and usage in writing. There is so much to writing, that we don't want to expect everything all at once, that is why we have a focus goal a week. You can help next week by pointing out good grammar, grammatical errors in the real world (they're out there unfortunately!) and modeling correct grammar in speaking.
