Hybrid Learning Schedule
Traditional students with last names beginning with A-K will attend school on Mondays and Tuesdays. Traditional students with last names beginning with L-Z will attend school on Thursdays and Fridays. Wednesdays are eLearning Days, so ALL students will complete assignments online from home on Wednesdays.
*We will continue with Hybrid Learning through Friday, January 29.
Traditional Learning Begins February 1st
The Madison County School System will be moving to Level 1 Traditional Learning starting Monday, February 1st. Those students who have chosen Traditional Learning for the second semester will return to school five days per week. Students who chose Remote Learning for the second semester will continue to learn remotely with no changes to our current procedures.
COVID-19 concerns will be addressed on a school-by-school basis unless conditions warrant a district-wide change.
Deadline to Reserve Yearbooks
The last day to reserve a 2021 yearbook is January 31st. After that, there will be no guarantee of an available copy. Books are $65 on the Balfour website: Hazel Green High School - Yearbooks (Balfour).
Interested in Taking a Trip to Italy?
PSAT--Tuesday, January 26
Students who signed up to take the PSAT will take the test on Tuesday, January 26. Doors will open at 8:00 a.m. and testing will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. Students will enter through the doors at the back of the school (courtyard). Tenth grade students will report to the library for testing. Eleventh grade students will report to the JROTC wing (next to the main gym) for testing.
What to Bring
Please bring a calculator and standard #2 pencils (no mechanical pencils). Face masks are required. You may also bring a snack if you would like.
What NOT to Bring
Please remember that digital devices including, but not limited to, cell phones and smart watches will NOT be allowed in the testing rooms. These items, along with backpacks, purses, etc. will be stored outside the testing room.
Lady Trojans Ranked #1 in Power 10
Our Lady Trojans defeated Hoover 65-45 on Saturday and moved to the #1 spot in this week's AL.com Power 10 girls high school basketball rankings! Way to go, Lady Trojans!!
Upcoming Basketball Games
Our basketball teams have only two contests remaining before the area tournament begins. The boys will play at Jemison on Tuesday. The girls will take on Spain Park this Saturday at Wallace State Community College at 10 a.m. All teams (boys and girls) will host Buckhorn on Tuesday, February 2. Let's go, Trojans!!
Madison County Wrestling Tournament
Good luck to our Trojan wrestlers as they compete in the Madison County Wrestling Tournament on Tuesday at New Hope! Let's go, Trojans!!

Permanent Announcements
Online Application for Free/Reduced Meals: Online free and reduced meal applications are available at the link below for a faster, more confidential way to apply. A new application must be completed each school year to qualify for free or reduced meals. Your child's eligibility status carries over to the new school year for the first 30 school days, allowing parents time to re-apply. Only one application per household should be submitted, and everyone living in the house must be included on the application.

Subscriptions are $9.99 a month (can be renewed monthly) or $69.99 a year (renewed annually).
Great for family or friends who cannot attend events or those who live a distance away.
HGHS Check-Out Procedures:
- Students drop check-out notes in the basket on the attendance clerk’s desk before 8:30 in the morning.
- Notes will be verified by the attendance clerk prior to the time of check-out.
- Check-out notes need the following information:
- Student’s first and last name (printed)
- Time of check-out
- Reason for check-out
- Parent’s signature
- Parent’s contact information
Without a parent note, no student will be allowed to check out unless a parent/guardian comes to the Attendance Office to check out the student. Parent notes must be turned in to the Attendance Office before 8:30 a.m. No phone checkouts will be allowed. The only exception will be if the school nurse determines that a student is sick and needs to go home. The school nurse will then contact the parent/guardian and the Attendance Office.
*Please go to door #44 at the back of the school (near the Trojan statue and courtyard) for all check outs. No check outs are done through the front office.
