RESCHEDULED FOR MONDAY - Storybook Character Parade
Parents - If you would like to come watch our parade, we ask that you enter through the exterior cafeteria doors either at the front of the school or at the back door. You will be asked to take a seat in the cafe' and remain there during the parade. Once the parade is over, you will then exit through the same doors. The parade starts at 8 am and usually wraps up by 8:30. We look forward to seeing you all on Friday!
Help Us Honor our Veterans!
Veteran's Day is quickly approaching on November 11th. Rancho Sienna wants to honor our veterans by creating our own veteran's wall. If you, your family members, or friends serve or have served in any of the military branches, please help your child create a paper “brick” to place on our wall. Feel free to create more than one! Papers with this info came home earlier this week. If you need more, just ask your child’s teacher for another brick. If you don’t personally know a veteran and your child would like to participate, encourage him/her to research a famous person and create a brick (i.e., Elvis Presley). We would love for the wall to be up by November 1st, so please return the bricks to your child’s teacher by Monday, October 31st if possible. Feel free to email if you have any questions.
Thanks, Jamie Kennedy (PTO Mom)

October Character Value
GRIT is our character value for October. This is described as refusing to give up when things are hard. When I'm in the classrooms, we share many examples of showing their GRIT, ranging from learning to walk (I brag on them for showing their GRIT even when they were babies!) to playing sports to working through academic challenges. We discuss being patient with ourselves when learning something new, and feeling proud when we are successful at an endeavor. We also discuss how feeling successful spurs us to want more success! We discuss how challenges and disappointments serve to strengthen our GRIT and make us more determined. Thank you for encouraging them to grow their GRIT at home!
Annual LHHS Trunk or Treat
The LHHS Trunk-or-Treat on Sunday, Oct. 30 is from 2-4 p.m. This event will be hosted by DECA (our HS business/marketing organization).
There will be more than 30 booths set up by our high school athletes and organizations, and the LH Fire Dept. and LH Police Dept. have been invited, as well. There will be games and lots of candy. Guaranteed fun for ALL!

In addition, Falcon Flight of Austin will be doing a flyover salute at 9:30 over RSE and all other LHISD campuses. They will do the missing man formation over the high school. The missing man formation is an aerial salute performed as part of a fly past of aircraft at a funeral or memorial event, typically in memory of a fallen pilot, a well known military service member or veteran, or a well known political figure. Thanks to Josh Curtis, Principal of Santa Rita Middle School and Dad at Rancho, for facilitating this opportunity for all LHISD students.
