Personal background Information
- Birth: Thomas J. (Stonewall) Jackson was born in Clarksburg (Now Clarksville) West Virginia, Jan. 21, 1824
- Family: His only family was his aunt & uncle, later married to Mary Anna Morrison and had a daughter named Julia Laura and had a second but she died 4 months later
- Education: Although he had a poor education he was exceptionally intelligent and was later excepted into West Point military Academy
- Careers: He had three careers during his life, teacher of artillery and natural philosophy and a General for the Confederates
- Additional Information: Stonewall was orphaned at age six and was taken in by his aunt & uncle
- Fought in the Mexican war ( 1846-48)
- Died at age 39 by the misfire of his own men which led to pneumonia and his death 8 days later on May 10th, 1863
Contribution to Society
- First successes: Success fighting the Seminole Indians, Mexican War and the Battle of Bull Run
- Won at the first battle of Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville
- Contribution: He destroyed the Union troops and educated many people in the south in artillery and natural philosophy
- Famous for: Famous for being a military General and how he stood like a stonewall during the Battle of Bull Run
- Most significant Accomplishment: All the battles he won for the Confederates, especially Bull Run where he earned his nick name Stonewall
- Additional Information: He earned his nick name Stonewall because he and his brigade stood there ground like a stonewall, even though they were outnumbered
- He was shot in the battle of Chancellorsville
