Meet Suarlin Alvarado
Hi there, I am Suarlin Alexis Alvarado Amira. I currently live with my mom and a brother and a sister in our town; San Martin Jilotepeque. My father works far away from us. We usually see him on the weekends when he gets home. My poor parents have had very hard economical problems. We just moved to a place where my parents are building our new house. My mom works making tortillas in the marketplace, but she doesn't earn enough to pay for my school. Most of our free time we all help to do chores with my mom. I really want to become an accountant and I am working very hard to get good grades and be a successful student. I just want to be able to help my parents and siblings in the future.

Math
Tentative Schedule of Events
Monday: Reteach EE.4.A/Extension over probability Day 1
Tuesday: Reteach EE.4.A/Extension over probability Day 2
Wednesday:Retake EE.4.A Test; Extension Day 3
Thursday: Inequality multiplying/dividing and adding/subtracting.
Friday: Multiply and divide with negative signs (review)
Our power standards for third quarter are:
EE.1 Apply properties of operations as strategies to add, subtract, factor, and expand linear expressions with rational coefficients. (in the gradebook)
EE.4.Use variables to represent quantities in a real-world or mathematical problem, and construct simple equations and inequalities to solve problems by reasoning about the quantities.
EE.4.A. Solve word problems leading to equations of the form px + q = r and p(x + q) = r, where p, q, and r are specific rational numbers. Solve equations of these forms fluently. Compare an algebraic solution to an arithmetic solution, identifying the sequence of the operations used in each approach.
Our learning targets for this week are:
I can construct and solve one-step inequalities.
Important terminology for this unit:
Variable, equation, expression, inequality, term, coefficient, inverse operation, constant, reciprocal.

Tuesday: Continue claim and reason, Guided Reading
Wednesday: Continue claim and reason, Guided Reading
Thursday: Continue claim and reason, Guided Reading
Friday: Continue claim and reason, Guided Reading
Our learning topic for this week: Understanding Claims and Relevancy
Important Terminology: argument, reasoning, claims, evidence, relevant
Objectives for the Quarter:
S&L - Acknowledge new information expressed by others and adjust as warranted.
Elements of a Non-Fiction Text: identify the elements of a non-fiction text, and explain how they contribute to the understanding of the text.
Making Inferences and Drawing Conclusions: draw conclusions and make inferences based on a text and pre-existing knowledge.

Hi Families! Our Human Body Systems unit is quickly coming to a close! We'll spend time learning about how the body maintains homeostasis and then test on Friday! Be sure to take time each evening studying notes, previous quizzes, and vocabulary to prepare!
Next Week at a Glance:
Monday: Interactions Between the Muscular and Nervous System Quiz
Tuesday: Internal Balance Notes
Wednesday: Internal Balance Notes and Test Review
Thursday: Test Review Activities
Friday: Human Body Systems Test
Learning Target for the Week:
I will predict body responses so I can explain how organisms maintain internal balance during an environmental change (homeostasis) by:
- When given a scenario, consistently predicts an appropriate body response
Consistently justifies internal balance using knowledge of body systems
Important Vocabulary: stimulus and homeostasis (full Human Body System Vocabulary found on Quizlet)
Objectives for the Unit:
Interactions Between the Circulatory and Digestive Systems
Explain How Digestion is Necessary for Survival
Explain the Transport of Nutrients and Wastes
Interactions Between Circulatory and Respiratory Systems
Interactions Between Nervous and Muscular Systems
Predict Body Responses
