Meteorologist Mia Montgomery from KBTX Channel 3 joined Mrs. Misty Johnson's classes for a virtual meeting to discuss weather forecasting and her job as a meteorologist. They were about to do their own project on weather maps so this gave them a real-world experience!
Students met with her on Tuesday, January 11th from 10 am-11. "Ms. Montgomery jumped at the chance to join us and replied very quickly to my request and I would love to give her a shout-out for that," said teacher Misty Johnson.
Mrs.Johnson shared, "Our experience with Meteorologist Mia Montgomery was amazing today! She kept the kids engaged and excited the entire time! The kids asked some amazing questions like “What did you study in college to be a meteorologist?” and “What is your favorite type of weather to report on?” They asked about tornadoes and hurricanes and Mia gave them some wonderful insight to her profession and studying the weather! They even got a tour of the studio and saw the green screen, which fascinated them! Now all the kids want to go on a field trip to the news station! My teacher heart is very happy!"

Other News & Reminders
Reminder New Early Drop-off
Brenham ISD is continually looking for areas that we can improve how we serve our students and the community. We appreciate the feedback that we have received and as a result, will begin opening our campuses at 7:00 am starting Tuesday, January 18th, to receive students. Drop-off procedures and class start times will remain the same. Our hope is that opening earlier will allow many of our parents to transport their children to school, provide additional time to eat a free breakfast, and ease some of the transportation issues we are experiencing as a result of a driver shortage.
We appreciate our faculty and staff who continue to step up and do what is best for our students and the Brenham ISD community. Thank you for your continued support of Brenham ISD!
