Welcome to St. John Mrs. Greene! New Assistant Principal for 2021-2022
Leadership Message
Hi! I am so excited to be coming to St. John XXlll as your Assistant Principal. I started my teaching career over 30 years ago and have primarily worked with K-4 students.
My husband and I live in Sherwood Park (I am originally from Saskatchewan though), and we raised our four children in the Park. We are proud parents and proud dog owners. We currently have two Australian Shepherds that bring me joy and I love going on nature walks with them. Gardening and playing in the dirt also brings me joy!
I trust in God’s plan for me and what is in store next year. I bring a lot of experience with Faith and Wellness in Elk Island Schools and plan on continuing with this as a priority personally and professionally.
Currently, I am at Holy Spirit School teaching in the Pathways program and I am a CRC (Collaborative Response Coordinator) at St. Isidore. Both of these roles, along with my years of experience, continually reinforce my love for children. Making connections and making all children feel loved brings me joy!
I look forward to meeting everyone and making St.JohnXXlll my new home.
Mrs. Gail Greene

Grade 3 students moving to Grade 4
Thank you for your dedication and service Mrs. Lisa Morin & Ms. Rita Astalosch. Parents-we need your help!
We have two amazing and dedicated educators that will be retiring in June, Mrs. L. Morin and Ms. Rita Astalosch! Between these two inspirational teachers they have devoted 67 years to teaching students and journeying with families and colleagues. Ms. Astalosch has served our Elk Island Catholic Schools Division for 29 years and Mrs. Lisa Morin has taught St. John students for the last 34 years!
It is so important for us to celebrate and recognize these incredible teachers and as always, we WILL find a way in spite of COVID.
If anyone has been taught by, worked with, or been inspired by Mrs. Lisa Morin or Ms. Rita Astalosch and would be willing to send in a short video message or picture(s) to Mrs. Boehm, please do so by Friday, June 18th. Please make your videos horizontal. Send to bonnie-lynneb@eics.ab.ca Please help us celebrate those two AMAZING educators who have devoted their careers and hearts to kids! ❤️

Kindergarten & Community Connections
Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Menzak, was biking along our river valley and come across the painted rocks snake! She knew this would be a great project for her kinders to be a part of!
Students picked a rock at home with their families and then worked hard to paint a unique design.
Her plan is to add each students' masterpiece to our community's rock snake down by the boat launch and then encourage families to take a drive or walk to search for their child's rock and take some quality time together admiring the many rocks that have been placed there.
Thank you, Ms. Menzak for the community connections, family connections, and JOY!
note: She will add Monday/Wednesdays rocks next weekend as it will be their rotation for Friday at school.
