Family Inquirer
Week of 2/8/21
Greetings ICEF Innovation Families,
We hope everyone is leaving this week safe and healthy!
Our elective program teachers have informed us that attendance has been low since our return from Winter Break. Please note that Music, STEM (3rd-5th), P.E., and Art are MANDATORY classes. Going forward, students who do not attend will have it reflected on their progress reports and report cards under learner behaviors and the comment section under electives, as not attending. These classes supplement the academic subjects we offer. When students do not attend, they miss out on valuable skills and lessons that can support their learning in other classes. The elective schedule is below. PLEASE make sure to note these classes on your child's schedule and remind them to attend.
Be sure to read the Inquirer in its entirety. If you have any questions, please reach out to the main office.
Have an AWESOME week!

ICEF Innovation Staff Spotlight
Tina Hobbs-White, Resource Teacher
Mrs. Tina White has been in education for 20 years and as the Special Education Resource Specialist Program Teacher for TK-5th grade since 2012. She joined ICEF Innovation in 2014 and misses working with her students inside the classroom due to COVID. However, she has learned so many new ways to teach during distance learning and looks forward to helping all scholars gain knowledge. Mrs. White enjoys spending time with her husband Kenneth watching a movie on Apple TV+ and playing board games, skateboarding in the neighborhood, biking, and playing foosball with their grandson Levi. She enjoys working in her vegetable and herb garden, creating new vegan foods and posting them on instagram, also designing and sewing new outfits with matching face masks. Lastly, she finds unspeakable joy and peace teaching bible study and praying for others every Saturday at 4pm with family and friends.

Attendance Matters!
Hello families, We have noticed that the attendance on Fridays is low and we would like to change that. Students who attend class will enjoy a VIRTUAL RECESS with their class every Friday. Doesn't that sound fun?
Academics
Lexia & Achieve 3000: (ICEF Core Values of COMMUNITY, EQUITY, and GROWTH)
Students should logon to Lexia (TK-3rd and some 4th and 5th graders), and Achieve 3000 (4th and 5th only) daily. These programs allow students to practice reading and reading comprehension, improving on their skills and being exposed to a variety of different texts to include fiction and non fiction. Make it a habit to ask your children if they are using these programs. You can also see how they are progressing by looking at their accounts or reaching out to their classroom teacher to get a comprehensive report.
SBAC Parent Post
Some of our parents asked about information on SBAC during this past Evening Chat with the Principal. This link (English/Spanish-page 2) gives you a brief look at what the SBAC looks like. You can always visit the CAASPP website and find sample questions and practice tests your child can take.
We will continue this section, for our 3rd-5th grade families though May, after testing is complete. Feel free to reach out to Mrs. Jundef (sjundef@icefps.org), Mr. Rodriguez (margarito.rodriguez@icefps.org), Ms. Clark (rclark@icefps.org), or Ms. McGee (lmcgee@icefps.org) with any SBAC related questions.
We are here for you!

If so, please see the steps below that guides families on how to change from English to Spanish, when you receive the message on your cell phone. The same can be done from Spanish to English. On your computer, you can simply open the link and look at the top of the screen, in between the search bar and the bell symbol.
