Message from Mrs. Carey!
Dear KES families,
Happy NEW YEAR!! Hope this finds you well and hope you had a wonderful holiday! It was also nice to start the year off with a beautiful winter wonderland and a nice bit of snow! I am sure our boys and girls enjoyed the snow fun:)
One of our priorities is to always keep our students healthy and safe! As we venture into the season of "germs", colds, flu, Covid, etc...we ask that if your child is exhibiting ANY of the following symptoms that you keep them home to avoid further spread:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
We have also been reminding our students of the importance of handwashing, wearing their masks appropriately, and making every effort to stay 3-6 feet apart. In the event that your child develops any of the above symptoms while at school, we have the ability to test them here at school. I have, once again, linked the "MAKO" testing link to register your child, if you haven't already done so; this gives us permission to do the testing and must be completed in order for us to proceed.
Please contact our school nurse, Tracey Higgs (tracey.higgs@qacps.org), or our sub nurse, Jackie Leight (jacqueline.leight@qacps.org) if your child has tested positive for Covid-19. We are working in conjunction with the QAC Health Department and the State to track this data. More information will be forthcoming from the county, of what this will look like, in the event of an "outbreak". Please know that we are prepared to have our students with ANY and all of the educational resources needed in the event that this occurs.
If you need to contact our school after school hours or on weekends for a positive Covid result, please contact covidalert@qacps.org This is also linked below.
January is already underway and we have some important dates to share with you! Mark your calendars:
- January 10th: Be on the lookout for Joe Corbi's flyers!
- January 17th: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; Schools Closed for students & staff
- January 21st & 24th: Schools Closed for staff professional development
- February 21st: Schools Closed for Presidents' Day
Wishing you all a fabulous Thursday!!
