HELLO MUSTANG FAMILIES!

We had a good turn out for parent teacher conferences last night! If you did not get a chance to meet with a specific teacher, please email them to set up a time and they will be happy to speak with you.

We are wrapping up Winter 1 sports and gearing up for Volleyball and Wrestling. If your student is interested in joining a sport, make sure they have a physical on file with the school! There have been announcements for tryouts and there is more information below in the Winter 2 sport area of the Mustang News.

There have been updates to the COVID guidelines from the Oakland County Health Dept. Please refer to this Frequently Asked Questions document to be better informed of how the school will be communicating Covid cases and isolation guidelines. The guidelines have some significant changes, please read the link to be informed.

No school Monday to observe Martin Luther King’s day. We also have an early release on Thursday of next week, January 27th, dismissal is at 1pm.

Masks are a must! We are reminding students to keep their masks up, please know that failure to comply may result in a student being sent home. This is still a mandate and meant to keep everyone more protected in the building. I would also like to ask you to remind your students that jackets and backpacks must stay in student’s lockers. If they get cold in the building, they must bring a sweater or sweatshirt.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Jason Ohrt

Proud Principal of Avondale Middle School

STUDENTS LEAVING EARLY

Recently, we have had students being called out a few minutes before the release bell. This increase in call volume and disruption in classes has become quite disruptive. We always want to respect parents requests to have their child released from school, however for the safety of students, and to minimize disruption, we will not be releasing students early after 2:15pm, they will be released at 2:46pm.

The procedure for calling your student out early is:

Call the attendance line (248-537-6310) before 11am and leave a message stating the following: name of your student, time of pickup, make/model/color of pick up vehicle

Safe Ed will walk students to the vehicle.

Or call the main office(248-537-6300) between 11am-2:10pm. Please leave a message if you cannot get through, the secretaries monitor their email and will get the message. This way we can give students a pass in advance and have them ready. We understand emergencies come up and will handle on a case by case basis.

We appreciate your cooperation with this policy.

DROP OFF/PICK UP UPDATE

Please pull up as far as possible in the parent loop to help traffic congestion.

Thank you!
