George III to George IV

- Era began when the Prince of Wales took over as Prince Regent when his father was deemed unfit to rule. (He was pronounced insane.)

- Monarchy passed from George III to George IV


- Noted for its elegance and achievements in fine arts and architecture

- Time of great social, political, and economic change

- Familial positions of daughters changed, making courtship their essential focus


- Vast monetary difference between upper and lower classes

- Books were most often written about the higher classes

- Period of great financial instability


- Helps us to better understand the time period and its societal standards

- Provides insight into part of normal life during the era
