CSCS Parent Smore Update
March 19, 2020
A Message from Mr. Anderson & Mrs. DeCamp
Day 3...
In times of controversy and challenge we often get to see the true nature of our character. If this is the case, then I have a tremendous amount of pride, love, and hope for our community. We have been inundated with offers of help and support from our entire community! For this, we are incredibly grateful!
As part of our school community, it is important that you are aware of all of the things that have been going on over the last several days. Below is a brief overview of our school response:
- All school work has been physically given to every student in the District either by pickup or personal delivery to student homes.
- All backpack food has been given to families and delivered to day-cares (over 200 bags)
- A comprehensive plan was submitted to state ed regarding our District response.
- Teachers have immediately started to reach out to families and check in on them
- Food service started yesterday in four locations in the District to provide breakfast and lunch to our students (Flier attached in Smore).*If additional arrangements for meal distribution may be needed please contact the building principal of the school your child attends.
- Next week we will be going online with more digital learning materials for our parents to obtain from our website.
We are only in the beginning and a lot could change at any moment. As we settle in to this new routine, more challenges may present themselves. Please stay open and communicate ideas thoughts and also... appreciation for those around us that are doing all they can to help and support us! In particular, our local health care providers and first responders. They are all-in to take care of all of us!
To have some fun! Check Mrs. DeCamp and Mr. Anderson reading one of our favorite Mo Willems book! There Is A Bird On My Head!!!
With Faith, Love, and Hope.
Go Panthers!
This Upcoming Week
Please do not hesitate to call or email with any questions. Please understand that we do not have our full secretarial staff on sight, so it may take up to 24 hours to respond. But I promise we will get back to everyone that reaches out.
How have our teachers kept in contact to Rock Learning Long-Distance?
- Fifth grade created a "Bulletin" board on Google classroom to post work and communicate with students!
- Teachers are making personal phone calls home!
- Second grade sent home a pre-addressed envelope so that kids can mail a letter home to their teacher and become "pen-pals" with their kids!
- Counselors are making calls and setting up long-distance counseling sessions!
- Teachers are using Seesaw and Remind to stay connected to families!
- Music Department created a youtube channel for kids to get music class from home!
This is collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creative problem solving in action!
4th Grade Team video conferncing!
Ms. Astolfi doing a read aloud!
Mrs. Crooker showing ideas for a home learning schedule!
Mr. Smith and the trials of working from home!
6th grade making connections on Google Classroom!

A Closing Thought
We are hopeful that students will be able to come back to school following Spring Break, on Monday, April 13th. However, given how rapidly this situation has changed, that is not a certainty. We will keep you updated as more information become available or as April 13th approaches.
Thank you for your continued cooperation, understanding, flexibility and diligence. It is appreciated more than you may realize.
