The Bee's Knees
March 2020
Message from Mr. G
Dr. Cain, our Superintendent, presented information about Props C & S during the March BEC PTO meeting. The WSD will have two propositions on the April 7 ballot to help address continued growth across the District, as well as staffing, salary and safety needs. Please see the District website for more information. Below are slides from Dr. Cain's presentation. They present the facts about our district's ever-growing enrollment and the widening pay gap between the WSD and our neighboring districts.
I will leave you with one bit of anecdotal information. We are only two weeks into open registration for the 20-21 school year. Our A.M. classes are filled and on a waitlist and we have only 4 spots left for our P.M. classes. That includes the increase in available enrollment made possible by the additional classrooms! Yes, the Wentzville School District continues to grow and we need to staff and build to meet that growing demand.
Sincerely,
Kevin Garcia
Principal
PROPOSITION S is a $0.49 tax levy to address staffing and provide needed support across the District, improve salaries to address widening wage gaps between the WSD and neighboring school districts, and to update and add safety features across the District.

Staff Spotlight
My name is Dr. Melissa Rothschild (formerly Anderson). This is my fifth year as a school psychological examiner here at Barfield Early Childhood Center. Prior to this, I worked as a school psychologist in an elementary school in New Jersey for seven years and worked in private practice in New Jersey as a licensed psychologist. I received my Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Webster University and both my Masters and Doctorate in school psychology from Rutgers University.
In November of last year, I married my husband Sean. In our free time, we enjoy traveling, and our most recent trip was to Australia in December! I got the chance to hold a koala and feed wallabies and kangaroos. Sean got to feed several large crocodiles! We were fortunate to snorkel at the Great Barrier Reef and to spend New Year’s Eve in Sydney to see their incredible fireworks display. I also enjoy reading and often listen to audio books during my commute to and from work. I’m currently listening to the Harry Potter series. (Yes, I know I’m a bit behind the times with this.) We also go to as many Cardinals games as possible, and I am very excited for the season to start. Go Cards!

Library Scoop
Spring break will be upon us soon. We will continue to check out books. If you are going to be out of town during this time and would prefer your child not bring their book home, please let their teacher know. They will be able to keep it in their cubby at school.
Have a fun, safe spring break everyone!
We thank you for supporting our book fair! Thanks to your support we earned $1750 in Scholastic dollars that we primarily use to purchase books and supplies for the library. We sometimes use Scholastic dollars to purchase curricular materials. Either way, ALL purchases benefit the students! Thank you!
