A Message from Your CCHS Admin Team
As the trees in the parking lot change color and the fall season arrives, we are excited to share some important updates with you.
First and foremost, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the students, teachers, counselors, coaches, support staff, families and community members for their dedication and hard work that have made the start of this school year a success. Homecoming week went exceptionally well, and we would like to give a special thanks to our amazing ASB students.
Fall conferences are just around the corner, join us on Oct. 19 from 4:00-8:00 PM. This is an excellent opportunity for families to connect with teachers, discuss your child's progress, and set goals for the upcoming months. We believe that strong family-teacher partnerships are crucial for our students' success, and we look forward to these meaningful conversations.
If your student(s) is struggling academically, missing school for sports or illnesses, or simply wanting to improve their grades, please encourage them to take advantage of the Student Support Day on Oct. 19th and weekly ELO opportunities.
This fall, we have an exciting lineup of events. We continue to invite your students to get connected and engaged at CCHS. Whether it's participating in sports, joining a new club, or diving into academic challenges, there's something for everyone to look forward to.
Stay tuned for more updates and news, and have a fantastic fall season!

CTE Program Highlight: Graphic Design and Media, Instructor: Kristy Struck
Our Graphic Design One students are working hard on learning how to draw and use the Adobe Illustrator program to create digital media. This is one of the most commonly used programs and industry standards for anyone who goes into this line of work. Graphic design work is such an amazing skill to have in all different work environments. In the world of marketing and the use of social media, this is such a valuable skill to have. Kristy Struck does an amazing job of teaching skills and developing projects that require them to explore and use many of the different tools in this program. It's amazing how students can quickly pick up these skills and work on these projects. Students at Crook County High School get to use Apple Mac computers that were generously donated by Meta a little over a year ago. These are extremely important because this is what type of computer they would find in industry. Other classes that are taught in this program include: Graphic Design 1 & 2, Digital Photography 1 & 2, Video Production, and Graphic Design Internship.

SAT Testing
We want to keep our high school community informed about the upcoming SAT testing opportunities. The SAT is a common step for students in their college admissions journey. Our school is committed to providing support and resources to help our students succeed in this important test. We encourage all eligible students to take advantage of these opportunities to showcase their academic achievements to colleges and universities. If you have any questions or need assistance with SAT preparation, please don't hesitate to reach out to our counseling department.
SAT Testing Dates at CCHS
- November 4th: deadline to register has passed--late registration is available until October 24th
- December 2nd: deadline to register is November 2nd
- March 9th: deadline to register is February 23rd
If your student is on a 504 or IEP and plans to take the SAT please contact Mrs. Van Roekel about adding testing accommodations. The deadlines for accommodation requests are:
- November 4th SAT: passed
- December 2nd SAT: October 13th
- March 9th SAT: January 19th
AP Test Registration
The CCHS preferred deadline is November 8th, the College Board deadline is November 15th.
Why take the AP exam?
The AP exam is a valuable way to gain college credit for advanced coursework. Students gain valuable insights into challenging subjects while enhancing their college applications. Success in AP exams can lead to advanced placement in college courses, providing a head start on their higher education journey. Prepare to excel, register for AP exams, and take advantage of AP support at CCHS to do your best.
What if I’m already getting Dual Credit?
We are lucky to have so many courses at CCHS that award dual credit for their classes! Often students take AP classes and enroll in dual credit instead of taking the AP exam. We encourage all students to take the AP exam, but support each student and family’s individual choices for earning college credit. You can absolutely enroll in dual credit and take the AP exam.
Still have questions?
Contact one of our guidance counselors or Assistant Principal, Bri Van Roekel.
Attendance Reminder
Regular attendance is a key to academic success. Every day of learning counts, so please ensure your child is present and on time for school as much as possible. We appreciate your commitment to your child's education.
