Welcome

On behalf of our staff, I want to welcome all of our families, new and old, to Franklin. Franklin is a great place because of the students, families and staff who are a part of the Franklin Family.

We are very excited for a great year and look forward to supporting your child(ren) as they learn and grow each day.

What's smore?

Smore is an online tool which supports the creation of newsletters which can be shared electronically.

During our spring of 2016 Thoughtexchange engagement, the theme of communication was identified as an area in which Franklin could improve. To increase communication, families will receive a smore every two weeks with information about Franklin from Travis Olson, Principal.

Why the change to the lunch and recess procedure?

Another concern raised by the Franklin community during the Thoughtexchange engagement was the time students spent eating lunch. After looking at several options, the best plan for Franklin is to add 5 minutes to the lunch and recess time and to have the dismissal of students from the lunchroom begin after 15 minutes. Students who need additional time in the lunchroom are able to stay longer, but no students will be dismissed before this time.

Example: The grade level goes to lunch at 12:05 and will have the option to the leave the lunchroom at 12:20 (15 minutes after their lunch began). Children who have not finished eating may remain in the lunchroom until they have finished their lunch. Their recess ends at 12:40 (35 minutes after the start of their lunch).

What's the benefit of being registered for Parent Portal?

Parent Portal is the portion of Infinite Campus, our student information system, which allows parents online access to:

  • Ensure your contact information is correct
  • Make changes to your emergency contacts
  • Pay for school lunches
  • Monitor your child's attendance

To get registered, stop into the elementary office with a valid photo ID to get your username and password. Please contact Linda or Karisa at 507.345.4287 if you have questions.

Is Franklin looking for playground supervisors?

YES, we are looking to hire people who will be a good fit to supervise and support our students when they are on the playground. It is approximately 2 hours/day and there is some flexibility in scheduling if needed. If you, or someone you know, is a good fit for this position please email Travis Olson at tolson1@isd77.org to learn more.
