Druid Hills High School

Week at a Glance 3/8

March 6-10 Exceptional Students Week - Thank you to our Special Education Teachers, Paraprofessionals, and Support Staff for all they do to make a difference in our students' lives!

This week is also National School Social Work Week. Please share your appreciation to Ms. Kautter!

Friday, March 10 - Staff Development Day

Friday, March 8 is the district-wide staff development day. It is a critical day for all staff members- absences require advanced notice and/or documentation.

Here is the tentative site schedule.

AdvancED Visit - Monday

The district-wide accredidation review is Sunday, March 12 - Wednesday, March, 15. Members of the AdvancED review team will be at Druid Hills Monday from 11:50-3:50. For most of you, the only thing I will ask of you is to continue high-quality, engaging, bell-to-bell instruction.

During the visit, the review team will be conducting classroom observations. I will not know the selected classrooms until the team arrives. Please take a minute to review the observation tool the team will be using to evaluate classroom quality - ideally, your teaching should be at either Evident or Very Evident not just on March 13 but every day.

The AdvancED team will also be conducting faculty interviews. I will be communicating with those of you selected to participate shortly.

Congratulations to the track team for their performance at the Eagles Landing All-Comers meet! Key performances include:

  • Girls 4x800 relay: 2nd (Emily Grieppson, Maria Harman, Genevieve Ferrara, Asena Anderson)
  • Boys 4x800 relay: 2nd (Carter Rathur, Brendon Valentine, Demeraki Moore, Emanuel Faria)
  • 3200m: Carter Rathur (2nd), Genevieve Ferrara (3rd)

Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball Team for their recent wins against Tucker (7-5) and Chamblee (11-4).

Girls Soccer

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity soccer team for their recent win against Meadowcreek 3-1.

Boys Soccer

Last week, captain and forward Luke Narker's brilliant hat trick was not enough to save the Red Devils from a heartbreaking 3-4 loss to Meadowcreek. However, by last Friday, the Red Devils had reorganized their formation and came roaring back to crush Whitewater 5-2. Midfielder Connor Logue opened the scoring with a deft penalty, followed by a sweet hat trick from forward Hasib Fudaeel, and capped off by a decisive goal by Nate Jackson. Go Devils!

Ms. Cunningham's Absence

For those that don't know, I was on family leave last week and March 6. My mother fell on 2/26 and fractured her hip, requiring a partial hip replacement. As a result, I had to leave abruptly for Texas Sunday evening.

Thank you for holding it down during my absence and for being patience with my communication response times. Additionally, thank you for the thoughts and prayers for my family. My mom's surgery was successful and she is now recovering.
