INFORMATION ABOUT TWO NEW WORLD LANGUAGES AWARDS
This year, we will be awarding two new world language awards to students. Please read below to see how your student may qualify for these awards:
FIRST AWARD: Biliteracy Program Participation Recognition
All K-5 students currently enrolled in Spanish will be automatically eligible and will receive their certificate of participation during their Spanish class.
SECOND AWARD: Home Language Development Recognition
Promoting 5th grade students who speak a language other than English at home and who practice it consistently will receive this recognition during one of their Flagpole Assembly (Silver Strand) or ACE Assembly (Village) in the month of May.
To earn this award you have two options:
Option 1: Keep a reading log of sources read in the target language- must have reached a total of at least 20 hours of reading and you must complete a brief reflection on page 2 of the Reading log. Submit your reading log to Ms. Rafuls via email at email@example.com
Option 2: Parent email to Ms. Rafuls certifying what the student did to maintain and grow the home language. Please click on the Parent Email Link to see guidelines of what the email should say.
How to submit evidence:
Via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
DEADLINE TO SUBMIT EVIDENCE: April 15
These awards are evidence of your student being on the Path to Biliteracy! Once your student reaches high school, they can work to earn the Seal of Biliteracy, a special recognition on their high school diploma.
To learn more about any of these awards, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Rafuls at email@example.com.

CUSD and Village Communication
We are committed to providing you with pertinent and timely information throughout the year. The Village website and Facebook are updated regularly, and you’ll receive a weekly principal email with a link to our Village Family Newsletter (every Sunday at 5:00pm). Please take time to read through this important information and reminders.
Please connect directly with Village Elementary regarding questions and concerns. It is our district protocol/policy that site administrators and school staff DO NOT monitor local Coronado social media sites (ie: Coronado Moms and Dads, Coronado 92118, Coronado Happenings and Crown Talk). Dr. Bergener and office will only monitor posts made by us to the Village Facebook Site and our Village Instagram page. We will try to respond in a timely manner. We highly encourage you to contact Dr. Bergener, Ms. White, your child's teacher or office staff per email or phone, if you have a question or concern.
Our social media motto:
We lift people up, bring people together and celebrate the greatness of our Coronado Village community!
Our district has partnered with Care Solace to help staff, students, and their families quickly connect to verified mental health and substance use treatment providers in our community. Our counselors can help connect you directly to their support, you can call them at 888-515-0595, or search anonymously at www.caresolace.com/coronadousd.
Their Care Companion team is available 24/7/365 and can support you in any language. Your Care Companion will make phone calls on your behalf to find and book appointments with providers who are matched to your needs. Care Solace has access to thousands of providers or programs that work with all insurances, Medicaid, or offer sliding scale or private payment options. For more information or questions please reach out to Jennifer Slusher at Jennifer.firstname.lastname@example.org or Michelle Kasney at email@example.com.
