Dear parents, homestay families and agents

Welcome to the end of Term 2. Many of our boys are travelling home these holidays and we wish them a safe journey, warm weather and relaxing time with family and friends.

Term 3 is a hectic term with the finish line in sight for our senior students. Senior practice examinations take place in week 4 of Term 4 and our Year 11, 12 and 13 students have only 13 weeks of school before they take study leave to prepare for NCEA examinations.

I have attached the NCEA examination timetable once again so that you are able to select flights home for your son, dependent on the date of his final examination.

Junior and Senior mid-year reports on the Parent Portal

Mid-year reports are now available on the parent portal. All homestay parents, natural parents, designated caregivers and agents should have access to the parent portal. If you are not able to access your student/son's report, please contact Janelle Cullen Wright, our Student Data Administrator. She will check that you are on our contact database and that you have the correct name and password. jcullen@hbhs.school.nz

Waikato Diocesan school ball

On Wednesday night, 8 of our senior International boys attended the Waikato Diocesan ball. It was a wonderful evening and the boys all had a great time.

Senior NCEA Tracking Folders

All families should now have received a notice on School Links advising that Senior Academic Tracking folders have been issued to all students taking NCEA subjects. The tracking folders list each subject your son/student is taking, the number of credits on offer for that subject, when each internal assessment will be assessed or completed, as well as the number of credits offered for the external end-of-year nationwide examinations.

Arrangements for July school holidays

Many of our boys will be returning home for the upcoming July school holidays. Thanks to the parents and agents who have already given flight details to Ann. It is very important that Ann is sent these details in the coming weeks. A copy of the eticket is the most reliable way to share the flight information as this ensures that Aerolink shuttles get the correct details.

NZQA end-of-year examination timetable and the school term dates

Attached is the examination timetable for Level 1, 2 and 3 NCEA examinations and Scholarship examinations. These examinations are for our senior students only. Once your son's timetable has been confirmed, you can discuss with him his subjects, the dates of his examinations and book flights home at the end of the school year.

Our school term dates is also attached to assist you in booking mid-year flights if your son is returning home for school holidays.

Year 9 and 10 end-of-year activity week and camps

Our school year ends on Thursday the 5th of December for our Year 9 and 10 students. The final 4 days of our school year provide students with the opportunity to choose activities and camps outside of the classroom. Our Year 9 students take part in daily activities that can be school-based or involve travel to a location in the Waikato. Our Year 10 students can choose local adventures or travel to beautiful places in our North island. Opportunities like sailing, ocean fishing, hunting, mountain bike riding, learning to surf and aviation are a sample of the vast range of camp options offered.

The Year 9 activities week and the Year 10 camps are compulsory. Please do not book flights home for your son/student until the 5th of December or after. Absence from school prior to the 5th of December is regarded as condoned truancy.
