  • 8th Grade Career Day 8:00-11:00 (no buses available from School at 11:00)

  • All library books must be turned in!

  • Last day of school- Dismissal at 12:00 (all buses will run to and from school).

WMS Career Day Friday, May 13th

Career Day is an annual WMS event including a keynote career presenter, Omaha professionals presenting career information representing 16 career clusters (preferenced by students) and learning about the WHS community service graduation requirement (students can receive permission to participate in service learning hours after they finish eighth grade).


Eighth grade students only!!


  • Attend school from 8:00-11:00 a.m.
  • No buses will be available to bring home students. Please arrange for a ride to pick up your 8th grade student!
  • Students will be able to sign up to receive a sack lunch prior to leaving for the day. They will sign up in homeroom.



There will be no school for current 7th Graders on Friday, May 13th!!!

  • Current 6th graders will begin arriving at WMS, before noon, to attend the Warrior Walk-About orientation in the afternoon.

Attention current 8th Grade Students!

Class of 2026 Transition to Westside High School


We wanted to share upcoming opportunities to help your future 9th grade student transition from middle school to high school. The following are planned to help make this transition smooth.

  • August 9, 2022 6-8 pm 9th Grade Parent Orientation (Parents)

    • We will host an opportunity for parents to learn about the high school and how to access resources for your student and family.

    • Learn more about modular scheduling, IMC, lunch, how to put money in lunch accounts, parking, where to pick up/drop off, how to call your student out of school, and time for questions.

    • Become more familiar with the building, school counseling services, and a variety of programs offered through the high school.

  • Tuesday, August 16, 2022 First Day of School (Students)

    • First day of school at Westside High School. Only incoming 9th grade students and 10-12 grade students new to Westside attend on this day.

    • Homeroom teachers and classroom teachers will focus on helping new students be ready and knowledgeable before all students come to school.

Westside Show Choir Camp

Have you always wanted to be a part of Westside show choir? Maybe you want to improve your voice or learn how to shake those bad dancing habits? Sorry parents, this ad is just for the kids. Westside Middle School is hosting their annual summer show choir camp June 7-11 at Westside Middle School for any student entering 6th, 7th or 8th grade in the Fall of 2021. Students will learn to sing and dance a full show as well as gain insights into the audition process for Westside Middle School Show Choir. Does your family need assistance?

Westside Community Schools provides clothing and food assistance through the Family Resource Center to students and their families who may need extra support. Families can contact the school social worker, Kim Schenkelberg, by email or at 402-452-3147 to arrange a time to meet there. Additional resources can be located in the Social Work Newsletter.

School work when your student is absent!!

If your student is gone for whatever reason, please have them check their Google Classrooms for assignments. However, remember instruction is still taking place in class and this is not intended to be used for e-learning.

Attendance

Parents must call into the attendance secretary, Ms. Metzler, if your student is ill or not able to attend school that day. Please make sure this is done by 9:00 AM.

TAGG

Westside Middle School participates in TAGG. TAGG has a growing list of participating businesses who will donate a portion of what you spend there to our school. WMS uses these funds to help support our school PBIS store and extra supplies teachers need throughout the year.
