CHS Weekly Update
Week 24: 2-23-2020
Last Week of February & Leap Year
Although February is short, it packed a punch. We are rounding out February this week with an extra day and then will be in the home stretch of much of our work to help our students experience success in April. For many reasons, many of our students (and you may be feeling this too) are feeling on edge, more emotional, stressed, or even just tired of winter. We have definitely seen an uptick in drama, students needing emotional support, and even calls from home. The good news is if we keep extending grace to one another, our students, and most importantly, ourselves, we will push through to that spring that is just around the corner.
Other Things on My Mind...
- Trisha and Kelly are working to plan our March 6th PD. Please make sure to share your wants, need, and talents with them so that we can continue learning from one another. I'm appreciative of all who have shared their work during our staff meetings this year and hope that we can continue this trend of showcasing our talented staff.
- If you are a teacher of seniors, please keep reminding them they will be participating in a mock interview on the day of SAT. This will serve as their required work and will result in a school-related absences.
- I stopped in Evie's classroom last week and saw her great communication with her students. She is explicitly clear with students about not only what to look for when trying to solve something, but also the thinking behind it and how to remember how to think about it. This allowed even some of our more reluctant students to experience success increasing participation.
- Don't forget to sign up for those observation times with your evaluator!
- Please make sure to send your data for rotation 3 to me, Matt, and Dan. I would like to have this data ASAP. Please put your data in a Google Sheet. I only need name, pre-test, post-test, and some indicator of growth (yes, no, difference, etc.). I really appreciate this - it creates a ton of extra work when they are sent in different formats.
- Our cheer team took first place in districts this past weekend and will be heading to regionals at Fenton High School this upcoming Saturday. If you've never been or want to check it out, it's a great event to see some of our best athletes shine. We also had 5 of our individual wrestlers make it to states for individuals. We will start swim leagues this week as well. It's truly an awesome time for our student-athletes.
- Make it a fantastic week! :)
