Rickettsia rickettsii is a gram-negative, intracellular, coccobacillus bacterium that is around 0.8 to 2.0 micrometers long. R. rickettsi is the causative agent of Rocky Mountain spotted fever.

Spread from a bite from a infected tick. Can't be spread from human to human, only through Arthropods.

The person will have red rash all over their body. The person looks and feels tired and sick.

Most incidences are found in Oklahoma and North Carolina.

Disease is found in hard ticks.

Disease is treated with antibiotics. Fever should go down after 24-72 hours. Wear heavy clothing in areas known to have this disease and avoid when possible.
