Holliman Hornets Family Newsletter
Volume 3.8 October 22, 2023
Principal's Message
This week our 2023 RICAS scores for ELA and Math were made available.
In English Language Arts/Literacy, students in grades 3-5 had an average scaled score of 490 which is the same average score as in 2022. The percentage of students meeting or exceeding proficiency increased from 30.1% to 32.9% which is just slightly below the state percentage of 33.1%.
In Math, students in grades 3-5 had an average scaled score of 489 which is higher than the average scaled score of 487 in 2022. The percentage of students meeting or exceeding proficiency increased from 23.3% to 30.9% which is slightly above the state percentage of 29.6%.
We are moving in the right direction and I believe our instructional priorities are in line with increasing student achievement in reading and in math! Students are doing a great job in engaging in lessons and tasks that will help us see even bigger increases in student achievement in the future!

We will be hosting our annual food drive to stock our food pantry and create bags of food for our own Holliman families in need. Your donations for trunk or treat will be added to our final count but not included in our grade level contest!
We will begin collecting Tuesday 10/24 and collect through Friday 11/10. Students may have a chance to assemble a bag or 2 as their class schedule allows for it during the week of 11/13-11/17!
Holliman families receiving bags will be able to pick up their bags on Monday 11/20 or Tuesday 11/21!
If you are in need of food this holiday season, or any time this year please reach out to Mrs. Bonneau, Miss Ann, Mrs. Cabana, Ms. Votto, Mr. D'Aiello, or your child's teacher! We are happy to help!
Our food pantry will be open after school on certain days as well, once it is organized and ready to go! Please stay tuned for more information regarding its official opening date!
