App of the Month Challenge

LMES SPED - February 2015

Are you up for a challenge?

Whew! February has been a crazy month, no doubt. Perhaps the extra snow days have given you an opportunity to explore some of the apps on the iPads to get you up to speed on the past challenges. Click on the link below to view any of those. Math Motion Zoom and Dreambox have both been added to the SPED devices.

Now it's time for March's challenge. Are you ready?

  • Plan and/or collab with Stacie Taylor if you need some help! My March calendar is below.
  • Fill out the Google Form (link below) to serve as a "review" of the app. Explain how you used it, what went well, what didn't go so well, would you use again, etc.
  • Submit the Google Form by the end of the month.

March Apps

(Click on each app below for a description from iTunes!)

Math - Number Line
  • Use Number Line to help you students learn about fractions, decimals, and percents.
  • Click on the link above to get a better explanation with screenshots.

Language Arts - Sparklefish

  • You remember Mad Libs, right? Well, Sparklefish is very similar.
  • Use this app for a creative way to explore parts of speech, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
  • Sparklefish review with video

Creativity (Show What you Know - For Any Subject) - Toontastic

  • I, at one time, recommended Toontastic, but started to see big time limitations with the free version; therefore, it wasn't on my top 10 list. Well, good news folks...Google has just recently purchased Toontastic and has made everything available within this app and it's still free. Read about it here. Can you believe it? Now, it's back on top again.
  • I recommend Toontastic for grades 3-5 and Toontastic, Jr. for K-2. Telestory is also on the iPads. They are both updated and on our devices and are great for digital storytelling. Let your kids' imagination soar with these apps!
