Volume 1 ~ Issue 6 ~ Week of August 21, 2022
Message from the Principal
Now that we are entering our sixth week, it's time to look at your grades! How are you doing in your classes? What classes do you need support in? Take advantage of our after-school tutoring and our Saturday Academy so that you can bring your grade up before the September 2nd progress reports. After-school Tutoring is being held Monday-Thursday from 3:20-4:20pm and we will be having our first Saturday Academy of the year this Saturday, August 27th from 8am-12pm.
Twice this past week, we unfortunately had to implement a sit-down lunch in an attempt to curb some of the unacceptable behaviors some students are exhibiting during lunch. It is my hope that students will encourage their friends to do the right thing and discourage them from doing things they know are not acceptable here at Mar Vista Academy. For example, play fighting, running/chasing each other, throwing food items/water at each other. As I mentioned to the students, I would like for them to have a lunch free of restrictions, however, if students continue to break the rules, we will implement sit-down lunches as many days as it takes to get the message across. I will continue to commend and recognize the students who are doing the right thing...I appreciate you being a positive contributor to our campus!
Parents, if you haven't already, please check your child's Jupiter Grades to see where they stand in their classes right now. Students have approximately one week to improve before the first progress report of the year. Students with a D or F in Citizenship on the progress report will be placed on the Non-privileged list. This means that students on the Non-Privilege list will be unable to attend any special event that occurs on campus, including but not limited to, Viking rallies and dances. Again, the expectation is that all Vikings respect themselves, each other, MVA staff, and our campus.
Wishing you a great Week 6, Vikings!
Take care,
Ms. Scott

On Wednesday, July 20th, your student received the MVA Welcome Packet that included a hard copy of the Alternative Household Income Data Form in their Advisory class. If you have not done so already, please have your student return the completed form to their Advisory teacher.
