Pleasant Hill Weekly Update
June 11, 2021
Message from Mrs. Steele
Dear Pleasant Hill Families,
On behalf of the entire staff of Pleasant Hill school, thank you to our PH families for working so closely together with us during a year none of us will ever forget! We are so incredibly proud of your kids. They are bright, funny, kind, thoughtful, they work really hard and most of all, your children are RESILIENT. This year definitely had it's challenges, but through it all, we lifted each other up, took care of each other and pitched in time and time again to make sure our entire school stayed healthy, safe and learning. We are celebrating the successes and silver linings along with our families because we could never have pulled off this year without your support and partnership. Pleasant Hill families ROCK!
One day far in the future, when you and your children talk about how there was one year when they had to go to school in masks, stay 6 ft apart from their friends, learn through this thing called Google Meets, take pictures of their work and give it to their teacher virtually... how there were some days we all took turns crying, they kept their backpacks in laundry baskets by their table and ate lunch at their desk but how we also learned how to smile with our eyes. In that conversation maybe your heart fills up with fondness because the real story you want them to hear, is that they went to this little school where everyone took great care of them when there was so much uncertainty in the world. Even though there were a lot of hard things, you knew that when they were at school, they were safe and they were loved.
And if we're truly being honest with ourselves, that's really all that has ever mattered.
Cheers to summer vacation! We hope you enjoy our video gift to you!

Fall Reopening Taskforce Update
We had our final PH taskforce meeting this past Tuesday. Thank you to our parent volunteers- Liz Avantaggio, Winne Lee and Rob Heise for giving so much time to this effort. We talked through the pro's and con's of our proposed DRAFT schedule which was time well spent and will help us when we make some edits BECAUSE...
On Wednesday, June 9th, the Governor announced that there will be NO physical distancing requirements in the fall, even for eating! We will continue to work on tweaking the schedule and be ready for Fall. We are also considering how to use a group like this for collaboration on future PH projects and initiatives. It was really wonderful to have teachers and parents working together in this way.
Instructional Coaches Corner
Dear Families,
This summer your child(ren) will have access to Clever from a home device. Please see attached directions. Your child(ren)'s teacher will ask that kids keep their Clever Badges. These will be used similar to the way that they were used on their Chromebooks for school. The purpose is for your child to access iReady instruction as well as math and other learning apps and have fun. This is completely optional. (NOTE: You will find many resources here. Should you encounter technical difficulty there will not be support available over the summer due to the rollover of applications from school years and limited staffing.)
Thank You Primary PTA!
