Ms. Santacruz's Science
In fourth grade Science we are learning about different species and their characteristics and traits, and how environmental influences affect them. For example the flamingo is born gray, but due to their eating habits of eating algae and shrimp their color changes to pink. Why is this because the food they eat has a chemical that causes the color change. We have looked at different species like rabbits, finch birds, pine trees, frogs, etc. We have also been learning about the humpback whale feeding behavior and how it is a learned behavior. The students worked in groups to do posters to show how traits are inherited from parents to offsprings. We will continue investigating how traits are passed on from parents to offsprings.
