Mary's Mount Primary School
Term 4, Week 2 - 22 October 2021
A PRAYER FOR WHEN WE ARE IN NEED
Father, where we are in need, meet us with your loving care, and where we are strong, give us courage to reach out in your name and in your love. Amen.
PRINCIPAL'S NEWS
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of Mary's Mount Primary School,
I had the pleasure of attending the Year 6 camp during the week. The children had the privilege to take part in their camp at Fairbridge Camp in Pinjarra. There has been an air of excitement and anticipation around this big Year 6 event all year. They were not disappointed. The children took part in a variety of team-building and challenge activities. It was wonderful to witness them coming together to enjoy the activities and encourage each other to overcome their fears and try something new. Many children surprised themselves with what they could do and the new talents they discovered.
I would like to thank all the Year 6 children for the way they showed genuine care for each other and for the positive way they engaged in the activities (even when we were hailed on during a canoeing activity). One of the instructors told me that they were the best group she has worked with during her time working at Fairbridge. The way they worked as a team and listened to each other’s ideas, respecting each other having a voice, and building on each other’s contributions is like nothing she had seen before. I would also like to thank the hard work and dedication of Mr Sorgiovani for all he did behind the scenes in preparing such a great experience.
To Mr Smith, Mrs Leech, Mrs Muscat, and Miss Thresher who gave up time away from their family this week to attend camp, we thank them too. Finally, we must thank the team of instructors, chefs, and support staff at Fairbridge Camp. Their affable and easy-going nature combined with a focus on safety and support of our children made it a wonderful experience for all.
OPEN NIGHT – 29 October 2021
We, as a school community are excited about the up-and-coming Open Night and welcoming our families, extended families, and the wider community to our school. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase our school and our united community. This is a strength of ours and anyone who walks through our school gates senses the warmth and welcoming of our school. This is something for us to celebrate.
Volunteers Still Needed for Setting up Art Show & on Open Night
We are still in need of helpers, in particular to help Wendy with setting up of the Art Show during the week, and some assistance with parking on the night of the Open Night. Please use the form here to register your assistance.
HARMONY GARDEN
The beautification and care for our God’s earth are taking place in the Harmony Garden. The development of the Harmony Garden has been a collaborative effort by many staff members and parents of Mary’s Mount Primary School. Our Aboriginal Perspectives and Sustainability team have worked in collaboration to bring this area of our school to life. Over the next two weeks, the water tank will be given a face
lift. The City of Kalamunda grant we received will be used to develop this area with Aboriginal artwork. The artist in residence is Melissa Spillman and the children will be invited to watch her in action while she works. We will keep you updated as to the progress and when our official opening will be held.

P&F UPDATE
A very big thank you and congratulations to those students who entered our P&F Lego Masters Competition last week. We had almost 50 entries, with the calibre of design, style and creative talent being very high this year. Students from each class came in to view and judge the entries, which turned out to be quite difficult with so many wonderful creations to choose from! Special thanks to Sam Blair for coordinating this competition and to the Gelmi family from Toyworld Kalamunda for providing extra prizes on the day.
The School Open Night is next Friday evening and we need some help making it great!! We'd love some parents to assist with either helping to set up the hall for just a few hours on Wednesday or Thursday during the day, oversee the tea and coffee area for just 30 mins on Friday afternoon, or assist with parking on the oval for just 30 minutes on Friday afternoon. Mums and dads welcome! More information and rosters can be found here: Volunteer Here
Yours in education,
MMPS P&F
CONGRATULATIONS COBE!
Well done Cobe on this great achievement. We are sure your legs must have been sore at the end of the ride.
If there are any students who would like to share their successes, please email the school office.

MMPS STUDENTS ARE COVERED BY ACCIDENT INSURANCE 24/7
Accidents will happen, and they can be costly. Playing sport, riding bicycles, at home and in the playground, students are at risk from injury.
Student Care is a student accident insurance policy specifically designed for kindergartens, schools, colleges and universities. Student Care provides benefits for a range of events such as death, total and permanent disablement, loss of sight and broken bones resulting from personal accident injuries. The policy also covers medical services for which a Medicare benefit is not available, such as dental and physiotherapy. Student Care is a world-wide policy that is purchased by educational institutes to cover all enrolled students.
All students enrolled at Mary’s Mount Primary School are covered 24/7 by the CCI Student Care Insurance Policy.
Even though you may not be out of pocket for treatment for a broken bone, fracture or damaged tooth, you may still be eligible for a payment from CCI as some injuries are entitled to a one off payment.
So if your child has injured themselves and requires treatment, we recommend you submit a claim to CCI as you may be entitled to a claim. In addition, if the damage requires ongoing treatment, or follow up, then you may also be entitled claim for that at a later date too.
So whether the accident happened at school, at home, a friend's house after school or while playing footy on Sunday morning, be sure to submit a claim online. It is quick and easy.
