A Message from the Principal
Greetings WMS families,
We are now a full week into school, and it has been a great start to the school year. I have enjoyed welcoming our 7th grade students into the building and helping them acclimate to passing times, lunch options, and finding the most efficient methods for using their lockers. It has also been great to see the familiar faces of our 8th grade students, and how many of them are setting a good example and helping to create a positive school environment.
As we continue to work to get students back into the routine of school, there are a few things we could use your help with so that students have meaningful academic and social experiences throughout the day:
Please remind your student to charge their chromebook overnight every day. This will ensure they are able to engage in activities that are planned and require the use of a chromebook
Talk with your student(s) about your expectations for what/how much they eat at lunch. There are more options and greater freedom at the middle school when it comes to what students choose to eat/drink. The options vary in nutritional value, so make sure your child(ren) know your expectations for what they choose to eat for lunch.
Students are not allowed to have their cell phones out during the school day. They can check them before school starts at 8:15, and after the day ends at 3:35. During the day phones are expected to be silenced and locked in their lockers. Which brings me to…
PLEASE remind your student(s) to use their locker and also lock it. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen items, and far too many students are not securing their belongings with their locks.
As a school, we will continue to remind students of these things as well, but it always helps when there is a consistent message being sent at home as well. We hope all of our students are having a great start to the school year. Please do not hesitate to reach out to a teacher, student services team member, or administrator if you have any questions or your student needs additional support with having a great middle school experience.
Warmly,
Jeff Kenas
WMS Principal

Registration will take place online in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. This process should take 15-20 minutes. To help prevent duplication of information, only the Primary Household member will need to login to their Infinite Campus parent account and click on the “more” tab to access the online registration. We will not hold on-site registration at any of our buildings. If you have questions or need assistance with Infinite Campus, please send an email to District Registrar, Julie Gengler, at wcsd_registrar@waunakee.k12.wi.us. Pay School Fees
Please pay your 2022-2023 School Fees by logging into your parent portal in Infinite Campus.
Registration fees and school store items for students in grades K-12 are available now. .We have been transitioning to a more accurate and efficient fee structure, and in the process we are learning some new processes. As part of the transition, we inadvertently assigned exempt status to fees to all of our students, instead of just the one student we were trying to make exempt. As a result, you will see two extra lines on your fee bill for each incorrectly assigned fee - one where it was assigned, and one that voids it out. We apologize for the mistake and the confusion, and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this transition that will make our fee process more user friendly moving forward. These fees will be due by September 30, 2022. Families will begin receiving fee statements for any outstanding fees beginning October 1, 2022.
Class specific fee's such as art 7/8, TE-8,Gateway to Tech 8, and F/CS 8 will be added when classes are live.
